Greetings my friends. I'm planning on swapping out my cats on my 456M. I have access to a lift, before I get started wanted to ask the community if there is anything particularly difficult in swapping new ones in? Thanks in advance for any advice or information you may be able to provide. Kind regards. P.S. I have a new full cat, both O2 sensors (front/back), and gaskets.
Just a general tip... Exhaust components are not always well matched. With cats, it's important that there is not even the smallest leak on both ends. The mechanic who fitted my new cats used some ugly looking sealing material (like fabric, not putty) in addition to new doughnuts and stainless steel clamps on some sections.
Hi, yes, I agree. I didn’t face anything particularly difficult in my 456GT. Yes, it’s very tight on there and yes, you will need long extentions on a ratchet, swivels/joints and thin wall sockets but I was surprised it wasn’t more difficult. Note and be careful with the heat shields and heat protection for the clutch hydraulics and the crank position sensors and the lambda wiring. Also no exhaust sealing paste nor copper paste or anything like that to the exhaust joints at and before the cats. Just new good seals and a tight fit. And good luck! Cheers!
Thank you, sirs! I will report my experience here. I appreciate both of you taking the time to respond. Kind regards
