And I’ve been a rabid F1 fan myself since the late-1970s.

Had James Hunt not ingested so much alcohol and drugs, he likely would’ve lived well beyond his late-40s.

Just silly mistake or calculated "gaffe" - either way quite cool

Why on earth would Hamilton resent Russell's life story - what is his" life story" anyway?

You're not much of Hamilton fan for a "Hamilton fan" are you :p

It's possible to be a fan of someone but still be able to criticize them.

Au contraire, such a bizarre and utter asinine statement is more telling of the author’s IQ than LH’s.

I can just imagine him stalking him in private, possibly throwing darts at pictures of him.

I am a Hamilton fan but he is an insecure character.

He detested it when Button came to McLaren ass licking everyone, I have a feeling it will be the same with Russell.

Mercedes will treat him like a new puppy dog, it will drive Hamilton mad, expect some meltdowns in the future.

Bizzare but true, you should take it up with Lewis.

I attended my first GP in 1961 as a reward for good school result: Belgian GP. Phil Hill on Ferrari won.

Really? Well you would have fooled me !

Not only you attack his persona, but you even throw doubt about his racing career

You are entitled to all that of course, but please, stop posting porkies !

    Amazing!

    I don't think we'll be seeing a Ferrari factory 1-2-3-4...or a factory entered Ferrari in yellow...anytime again soon :)

That was at the 1961 Belgian GP, my first ever GP !

Ferrari had Phil Hill and Wolfgang von Trips as regular drivers, plus Richie Ginther in support.
The Belgian importer had Olivier Gendebien entered under the Ecurie Francorchamps' banner, and in national colours.
They qualified and finished in that order, if I recall properly.
    Ferrari was dominating that year.

How the mighty have fallen ....

Yes, there was no media then. You were lucky if a GP obtained 2 columns in a national newspaper the next day.
Only a few radio stations were giving race results, and of course TV wouldn't touch it.
Rallies and endurance were more popular with broadcasters never missing the Monte Carlo Rally or Le Mans.
So, we didn't know anything about the drivers' private life, the clothes they wore.
Only the accidents and the ensuing funerals were published. It was a different world.

I have been thinking that if we currently raced at the safety levels we raced at in 1976 that we would get more James Hunt and Niki Laudas, and fewer Lewis and Maxs.

Shumi drove the wheels off the Jordan before dominating with Ferrari. He retired, but when he returned, he opted to go with a different team. Vettel dominated with Red Bull but was willing to switch teams to Ferrari and fulfill a lifetime ambition. Both drivers made decisions which were proven to be not too successful, but they had to courage to do it, and I respect them for that.
Lewis is afraid to leave Mercedes.

Schumacher started one race for Jordan (Spa) and torched the clutch at the start. Briatore then snatched him away from Eddie Jordan, Schumi made his bones at Benetton.
