Sorry, I like the current version better. I bought one new in 2003, fun car to drive, stick had very short throws for a stock vehicle.

I like the styling, has the right amount of power for me it's a manual and pricing is not out of line. Deciding factor for me will be how it drives.

Car is built off the same (sedan) platform as current Z.

    No thanks.

How much does it weigh? 400hp DOES cover up a lot of pork, but......
    Base price?

Sedan? The FM platform isn't specific to a sedan but the new Z will be based off the 370Z, which is pretty much based on the 350Z so it's a 20+ year old platform. The engine is nothing new, it's the same as the Q50 from 2016 (VR30DDTT). Anyway, two seater 6-speed manual rwd with 400 hp in this day and age is good with me.

Of course it's not specific to a sedan, as the Z is built off the ultra-dated platform.

My guess is safety regulations (higher belt line) but I could be wrong.

I was actually quite excited when I saw this released, I think it's quite a looker and that's a good amount of horsepower for around $40k. My only complaint is they haven't released the weight. If it's close to 3k lbs then it should be awesome but if it's close to the 350Z's 3,500 lbs then too fat. I don't understand why such a small car is so heavy anyways.

The cars are made of steel other than the hood, which is aluminum, and bumpers which are ABS. That's a pretty heavy material to build from. 3k lbs won't happen. The 350Z was 3,188 in its lightest but the versions with more options and the convertible made it through the 3,500. I don't see this car being under 3,500. 3k lbs is very hard nowadays given how large cars are unless lots of composites are used. The only composite I know of on the Z is the carbon fiber driveshaft they've used since 2003 that will likely stay on.

Toyota claims the new GR86 with manual transmission weighs around 2800 lbs. That car looks similar in size to the Z, doesn't it (I was too lazy to check dimensions). I am looking forward to test driving the Z when it is available.

Will it be available in France?

I like a lot of design, not really the digital aspect of the dashboard.

    At what price?

Articles from a year ago say it will not be sold in Europe. I wonder why. Maybe emissions or some other weird regulations that it would have a hard time meeting?

Mistake putting that digital panel next to analog gauges but at that price you can't expect much. At least it doesn't have a crappy tablet looking thing.

Great styling and hp plus stick but I was at a nissan event at limerock for 370z where they gave me 1 to play with. terrible handling sports car but brakes were fantastic despite media saying brakes were an actual danger. Turns out Nissan swapped out street brakes for racing ones. And they tried keep it secret too. Pretty bad but if this one is $40k, it will sell
