Aston...........was lost completely this weekend. Titles in 5 years or less? They have a long road and the wrong drivers.

    Agreed. Not gonna happen.

Then again, I don't care. As long as Stroll is in F1 I'm quite content.

Stroll started out P12......he finished P12.

Vettel started out P16....he finished P13.

Both drivers out of the points. So between the 2 drivers in the race, who made progress???

    Zandvoort 2021 post-race interview excerpt

Stroll: After that, I could only really follow George [Russell] for the majority of the race in a train of cars. Without a significant tyre delta, it is almost impossible to overtake here.

Really???? Maybe you did'nt try hard enough to try to overtake???

    Seb's post-race interview

Sebastian Vettel: It was one of those days which shows that if you start further back it is really hard to recover, especially on a track where overtaking is so tricky. I had to take a lot of risks when overtaking, but if you qualify out of position it is difficult to come back.

Vettel: When I did have some clean air, in the final part of the race, the pace was very competitive and I found a good rhythm. From where we started, we had to try to do something different with the strategy and I was happy with our approach.

Yes, Seb is famous for his pirouettes BUT he did make progress in the race.

Stroll took a "stroll" in his F1 car.

Not really. The time difference to the driver in front of Russell was way too much to make up. Remember it gets progressively harder to pass somebody as you move forward in the field, so Seb making a couple places in the back is not quite the same.

So Stroll really had no other option than just wait it out behind Russell knowing full well he would "pass" him due to the 5 second penalty.

The AM simply sucked on this track.

"The AM simply sucked on this track." As did the McLaren, relatively speaking. So they were in good "sucking" company.

Yet Seb caught up to Stroll and almost passed Stroll before Stroll went into the inside to defend T1 (Tarzan).

Yeah, I heard that. Was just waiting for somebody on here to bring it up.

In other news: Lewis needs to do some Bible study. Confused Noah with Moses. Duh!

Stroll does ok. Fairly consistantly in the points. He is not a bad driver really. I don't get the hate Latifi is pretty much the same as Stroll...billionaire daddy buys him a seat..yet you guys don't say much about him.

The Stroll we see today is vastly different from the Stroll we had in his first few years. That Stroll rightly got plenty of criticism. He's upped his game. Is he going to be great, or win titles? Highly doubt that. He may win a race at some point, unless Aston Martin develops a superb car, it'll likely be a race with an asterixis behind it, but a win is a win.

Yap, Stroll was a total disgrace when he arrived, or as J. Villeneuve said, the worst rookie in f.1 history!..maybe that was a bit of a stretch, but if we forget Ide, it must be close!
On his behalf, i think he was too inexperienced, he clearly needed the f.2 experience to be better prepared..ok, Max didn't need that, but he's a fenomenal talent, and lance obviously not. He's now 10x a better driver, but his limitations are still pretty obvious, and when we see the great talents of his generation, like Charles, Norris, Russel, Gasly, max, Ocon, he's very far from them, he's like Latifi, a pay driver that can drive an f.1 car, but with no special talent. I think that many of us would be able to do it if we were trained since a young age, but there is a certain point where talent kicks in, some have it, some don't, and no matter how experienced you get, you'll never surpass a certain point.

I "met" him once in Austin, but no, I don't know him on a personal level nor are we friends. I just happen to like him and I thought he got a raw deal by many on here. Actually still does.

    Hammer meets nail.

And Stroll is the 3rd most successful Canadian F1 driver of all times. Unless Latifi beats him one day. :)
