Finally…

As many of you know, I was seriously injured in a 2016 accident, hit in my Speedster by a DUI. I regained my driver’s license a few months back, but with restrictions due to my disabilities (especially muscle spasticity on my left side.)

So, no more three-pedal manuals, and no more low slung cars that I can’t get out of without assistance. I needed an automatic, but still love classic sports cars. No video screens, just gauges and mechanical honesty. Also, this is my only car at this point, so needed something that could be a daily driver to the extent I need to drive anywhere.

After a lot of soul searching and car searching, I found this one: 1993 Carrera 2 coupe. Tiptronic, slate grey/black, low bolster “comfort” seats that make ingress/egress possible. Not the most hardcore spec, but given my current condition it was exactly what I needed.

Very few Tiptronic coupes to be had, and the 964s and 993s are the only air-cooled 911s to offer it. I was happy to find this late 964, which will be delivered next month once the new garage/house is ready. New tires, battery, servicing are part of the deal. I’ll report here how it goes.

I kept coming back to this one. It’s a one owner (PCA guy) car, original paint with good paint meter readings, original interior with no re-dye, window sticker, huge service files, etc.

And yeah, after 5 1/2 years, the idea of getting behind the wheel of a classic 911 is already a rush.

I know… if I could walk into a Porsche dealer today and spec a NA 964, it would be a slate grey sunroof coupe, Cup 1 wheels. (My favorites after the early Fuchs.)

Reportedly only about 570 coupes exported to the States in MY1993. I’m guessing most were guards red, black, or silver, and with Tiptronic coupes being rare this is something of a unicorn.

Add to that it’s one owner from new. Hard to pass up.

Awesome! Congratulations!

My dad used to have a Tiptronic 993 Cabrio that I drove frequently. It's the car I most lament him parting with. It was a fun and engaging car even without a third pedal. I'm sure you'll enjoy driving your Tiptronic Porsche too.
