Does anybody know the difference between the ANSA FE1900 and FE1940 fitted to 308 GT4's? My Australian delivered 1977 has the FE1940 fitted. Some websites list the 1940 as 'Sport' European style for USA models. They look basically identical apart from the mount / hanging brackets and the orange painted tailpipe inners and red stripe. More interested in the internals and how they might differ. Is the 1940 'sport' muffler any different internally from the 'standard' 1900?

And does anyone know if either of these actually came with the orange painted internal tailpipes from the factory fitted to GT4's?

Nobody know any differences between the two mufflers?

I have since found a photo from the official Ferrari website that shows the tailpipes painted orange. Still uncertain if that's the way they all were when leaving the factory...

I would think one is for a euro car. Shorter tips and steeper angle i would guess. Or one could be for a car with cats? The pics on the website may be generic.

The muffler hanger orientations are different. On a euro 308GT4, the muffler hanger bracket ends (with the mounting hole) are horizontal (like FE1900):

On US/Aus 308GT4, the muffler hanger bracket ends (with the mounting hole) are vertical (like FE1940):

There may be other slight geometry/piping shape differences, but just buy the one that has the same muffler bracket end orientation as what is on the car now.

So my muffler is the FE1940 but has the flat horizontal mounting brackets. Not too concerned about the different mounts, more so if there are any differences internally?
