On both incidents Max was on the inside, so he has the preference.

Lewis has been taking it easy for years because he didn't face a driver with enough big balls... Now the time is over and next year will be worse for him with Russell.

Very low speed crash. Halo. Other guy orchestrated the crash.

Also Max isn't a medic last I checked.

    Well, that was interesting. :p

A little disappointed Sainz couldn't stay within 5 sec of Perez at the end, but I think Ric was holding up the parade a little, preserving his tires for that last lap sprint for fast lap point.

Should we expect consistency from the stewards? (Naaah.)
They penalized Gio for pushing Sainz off track.
They penalized Ocon for pushing Vettel off track.
Will the penalize Ham for pushing Max off track? (Naaah. ;))

Sainz and Leclerc are driving the wheels off those under-powered Ferraris, to keep up on a power track like Monza.

Indeed, cars are way too big, but that chicane in Monza is also ridiculous, too tight.

Max didn't push Hamilton off track, he was already on the edge, it was Hamilton who close on him.

Ham didn't leave any room for the inside car. (A rule inconsistently applied.)

Funny thing was, I knew Perez was going to get pranged for passing Leclerc off track.
("Well, that wasn't *really* off track." (But outside the white lines.))
    Another inconsistently applied rule.

Here is a screen capture just before Max hits the curb. I don't see how anyone can say Hamilton "has the corner" as he is only a wheel ahead and clearly isn't leaving room for the Red Bull.

In the end it was a bit of an own goal for Max and RBR: Had it not been for his poor start* and the muffed pit stop, he and Ham would not have been together at that place at that time.

    *Granted, RIC’s start was brilliant.

Well, looking at Max steering position, this could give room to say he was turning into Hamilton... :eek:No sure of he was only trying to correct it after he got touched it..

So you’re saying the lead car is required to move out of the way and let the trailing car past? I’ve also read here that the car with the inside line has the corner? I just like to see consistency in thinking.

This thinking would suggest Max should have conceded the corner to Hamilton in Silverstone then? That certainly wasn’t the prevailing sentiment here following that incident.

Back in the day the tires were skinny and the drivers were fat. Now the cars are fat.

That picture shows brilliantly two points. Firstly, at no point was max ever ahead of Ham. Secondly, given the position of his car and the amount of steering lock required, he was never going to make that corner without impacting the sausage curb. More evidence to blame him, but as I have said before, it’s a racing incident.

When I was racing Formula cars the thinking was to "have the corner and be considered leading" the car must be 1/2 car length ahead or more, not just a wheel length. Anything less was considered side by side and each car had to give the other racing room. In this case sufficient space on the inside to not go over the LARGE curb.

why was Hamilton penalized in Silverstone, in your opinion? He met all of the criteria you have outlined and there was certainly space (prior to contact) for both to make the corner. (My theory is that one car was out of the race so the other is penalized).

this, however, suggests that Max was in the wrong in Silverstone and on Lap1 at Monza (and Imola) and Hamilton was in the wrong in this crash.

HAM was penalized because he went in too hot, too tight and missed his apex and speared Max, who had left him room on the inside. Even the Sky commentators said he missed his apex. He didn’t miss his apex when he passed Leclerc later in the race with a similar move.
