Hamilton deserves more respect

F1 drivers use to have a sense of style kind of in a James Bond way...I don't see Bond dressing like Lewis.

The difference between style and fashion.

 

Times have changed.......for better or worse....depends on which side of the spectrum "of time" you're in.

Agreed, alot more class back then with respect to wardrobe.

 

F Bond. Those guys look cookie cutter robots. Hamilton had mare women falling out of his pockets than Bond had his whole career. Lol

 

You see this type of weak script flipping on the internet all the time.

Person A: Makes gay joke/mocks someone as being 'gay.'
Person B: Un, no they are not
Person A: Oooo...you sound offended - being gay isn't bad you know? Why are you a homophobe?
Person B: ...

 

Yes, us 'old heads' wouldn't imagine wearing or supporting anything like that. But it's not designed for us. I'd imagine that the folks from the 40's & 50's would similarly be horrified by the way we dress for work or traveling. I hate the stuff they call 'music' these days, but I also realize the people who it's made for didn't ask for my opinion (though I give it to my daughters at any opportunity)

"Class", "fashion" and "style" are all relative terms. There is no absolute value or universal truth related to any of them and it lies in the eye of the beholder.

We're all influenced by 'the machine' (pop culture, media, marketing, etc.) in one way or another.

 

Is that really true though ? Every decade has it's conservative, smart styles...and then the more fashion forward avant-garde stuff.

Anyway...here's one of F1 greatest 'babe hounds'
I personally don't remember James Bond ever rocking a print poncho or plaid sequin double breasted blazer, or a rather androgynous looking fur coat but I may be misremembering.

Yep. My grandfather recently passed at 100 and always wore a suit with a tie till the end, I work in tech and have not worn one in years now. Times do change/evolve although I do love my suits.

No, we're talking about Lewis's "fashion" or "style". He doesn't conform to the status quo. Lewis chooses to be different than anyone else, and it draws attention and gets FChat time or posts. That's what he wants....to "shock" those whom it goes "against the grain."

If he showed up wearing a deconstructed F1 engine or an F1 tire on his head, he'd be avant-garde and get way more attention.
As it is he's just following his entourage's cues. That's about as conformist as you can get, while looking ridiculous.

I wouldn't call Bernie Ecclestone or Roger Penske "cookie cut" by any means. Nor would I call either Graham or Jim the same. Just class acts as opposed to the many self-centered punks today......
