    So I picked up the 360 from Marc today after it’s cam belt service and asked him if a stick shift conversion would be a good idea!
    He said absolutely, he has one ready to go for his car when he gets time. I always worry about performing changes, as people roll eyes about modifying Ferrari’s. I had to pick up and run today and didn’t have an extended chat with Marc, does anyone know if this change is reversible, I’d imagine it is but thought I’d throw this out for some debate. From my point of view I always wanted a manual car, I bought mine as it was just too good to pass up. Am I mad?
    Should I just do what I want to do or leave well alone?

    Do what you like! It's much better as a manual. Lovely gearbox.

    I reckon I'd do it..... But I don't have a problem with doing reversible modifications. Some are anal about it.

    There’s a group in the US that supply the conversion bits and have been discussed on this forum. About US$20k in parts according to their website, engine ECUs need reprogramming etc 100+ hrs in labour. More info here

    IMO, if it’s a manual car you want, I’d sell the F1 and buy a manual. By doing the conversion, you’ll end up with what you want but it will also be a “stories” car. If that doesn’t worry you and you’re not planning on selling, go for it :)

    So Marc said 15-16k in parts and 1-2k in labour which I was ok with.
    I’m liking his prices better :eek:

    Has he actually done one? I can’t see how that labour quote is possible. Transmission has to come out, surely that’s $1k already there.

    To be honest I didn’t get chance to ask as I had to get my hands cut up this arvo (too much sun) :(
    But he has a shed full of Ferrari’s being serviced and restored, he built his 360 from a wreck from memory and works out of his home so his overheads are probably low.
    I don’t know Greg to be honest but I can only go by what he said to me. I’ve asked for a list of items to accumulate and plan to do it when the clutch needs replacing to make it more viable.

    Spot on. If you do it, you’ll have spent a lot of money and it will always come up as a “converted” car.

    Sell it and buy an original manual if that’s what you want to do.

    One of the biggest head****s will be reprogramming the engine ECUs and the ECU which runs the display at the speedo, otherwise you’ll end up with permanent CELs etc. Don’t forget you’ll need a new cowling around the steering column and the flappy paddles gone otherwise it will just look silly. The actual gate for the gearstick is pretty hard to find these days, I’ve seen them sell in the classifieds section of Fchat for $1k as these types of conversion are becoming more popular. To do it properly, I reckon it’s at least a $40k exercise

    100%, it will be a converted car and a pretty permanent one as the cost to put it back to original would make no sense. To change it back would mean, pulling everything apart again, reprogramming the ECUs, fixing up the trim, etc

    Thanks for the feedback guys, that’s why I thought I’d ask.
    It’s a tough one, I know people don’t like modified Ferrari’s. I really need a serious quote firstly from Marc. And the labour cost of conversion. I’d imagine to convert it back would be similar if a buyer requested it.
    To sell mine and buy a manual would be what an extra $30-40k and I’d more than likely get a car in worse condition than mine!!??
    Mine is pretty much like new!
    I’m just toying with the idea, do I cop a hit in the pocket come sale time for more satisfaction during ownership?
    Things that need weighing up and as stated costs to be incurred.

    Sure. And then he’s spent the money to convert it to a manual and then convert it back to an F1.
    Why would anyone do that?

    If Kim really wants a manual and wants to do it to his car rather than just buy an original manual car, that’s fine.
    But he’ll need to keep it for a long time or take a big hit either way.

    My understanding of the 360 is that the cars were all built as manuals and the F1 option is a plug n play kit if you will, so all parts are bolt on/off with no customisation required [emoji16]
