    Hello,
I did search briefly before posting this, but nothing popped up (using my search terminology, anyway).
I recall hearing someone mention that they lubricate their door lock cables as preventative maintenance from seizing/snapping, much like you’d lubricants cables on a motorcycle throttle and brake. In fact, I believe they said they use the same tool. Is there any merit to this?
I can only imagine being at a (insert your own worst case scenario here: car show, dinner date, scenic drive in the middle of nowhere) and going to get back in the car just to find you’re locked out, and now have to suffer the indignity of climbing across the passenger seat to get back behind the helm…
Or is it a here today/gone tomorrow type of failure, with no warning signs?

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

The problem is that the cable has some slack in it, and it manifests itself near the top where the end of the sheath is supposed to fit into the fitting. The end typically hangs out a bit and allows moisture to enter the cable assembly, eventually causing the cable itself to rust out. I have seen folks fabricate a makeshift cover using a toy balloon and evidently this works well.

When my passenger side seized it helped that with the Spider top down and window open she was able to slide out.
    In a Modena, hmmm!

So I replaced both sides. Hopefully good for 10+ more years

usually if the outer cable went kaput, the inner still works.
    so its like an insurance.
    I wound't worry about it

Not too sure about that. My door wouldn't budge. Both inside/outside door handles were inoperable on the passenger door.
My wife had to jump out of the car and jumped back in
