    Hi all,

Thought I'd ask the collective brains trust on here for help?

85 Euro 308 GTSQV....interior light near rear view mirror (3 positions), in two positions it stays on all the time , even when doorsare closed (off in other position).

My understanding is that there is a delay relay of approx 10 seconds that is supposed to turn interior light off once door closes.......faulty relay? Where is it located?

Also the two red warning lights in doors are staying on all the time when the doors are closed and even if interior light is manually switched off, resulting in a flat battery!

Is this related to the interior light delay relay not working as the door switches appear ok?

If NOT how to test and isolate fault?

Thanking all in advance for help,

    Grim

Behind the passenger footwell panel -- item 18 here:

Haven't looked at the wiring diagram, but just unplugging to see what happens is not unreasonable. If the door marker lights still stay "on" = I'd guess that you have a "pinched" wire to ground somewhere (if you've already confirmed that the door switches themselves are OK).

I had a similar issue, but the opposite - the interior light wouldn't ever activate on door open. The relay was faulty. However, finding a replacement relay was next to impossible. So my solution was to bypass it - the light now works on open/close, but without the dimming delay.

The door lights weren't affected either before nor after dealing with the relay.

I had the same issue with my euro 85 308 GTS a few weeks ago. The red lights inside the door would not turn off resulting in a drained battery. I pushed the plunger switch inside the door jamb a few times with my finger to see if the switch worked...and it did. After doing that it has been fine ever since. I don't know why, perhaps it was sticking and not being pushed in far enough to indicate the door was closed? Anyway, I wish everything on a Ferrari was that easy to fix.

I saw post#1 this morning so I just check my US 85QV this evening. There are two door jamb switches behind the driver side door, the top one activates the red open doors marker lights (passenger and driver side) and interior light, the bottom one triggers key in ignition buzzer. The passenger door has only one jamb switch and it activates both open doors marker lights and interior light. The key in ignition relay buzzer is behind the passenger foot well. I am not sure where the timer relay for the interior light is. I have to check the wiring diagram.

I think there might be a short at the door jamb that causes the red open doors marker lights to stay on all the time. I would remove the panels behind the doors and make sure you don't have any loose door jamb connectors that touch the body and cause that short. It might be nothing wrong with your interior light.

Agreed. I believe the problem on the door markers is either a true short, or a bad switch.

I have this problem now - but only on the left door. I resolved a problem with a clanking door strap (needed to tighten the little nuts REAL tight). Maybe that metal cut into a wire, but I've already pulled out about 3 inches of the wire (it seems to be going into a black rubber/plastic escucheon), does anyone know where to get at that pair of wires if not from behind the wheel well???

Many thanks for revisiting this issue for me.
