GUTTED? Why? He was dumb enough to think he knew more than the people running the show. Hamilton won because Lando decided he would ignore the advice of his team.
I have no doubts Lando is experiencing a lot of hindsight right now. That doesn't mean I still don't feel gutted for him.
Fred has an axe to grind, so he wanted his moment. Was dispatched fairly easily today when Hamilton had trouble passing others.
I think that Lando's youthful exuberance got the better of him today. If he had pitted when the team suggested he do, he probably would have won, or certainly come a lot closer than he ultimately did. And for Max, finishing 2nd after starting last is as good as a win.
If this was an ongoing problem with Norris, like the 2nd or 3rd time of ignoring team orders then YES, you fine him. This was a one-off for Norris and he totally understands it was all him. It won't happen again. He's learning from his mistake.
Lando Norris has been reprimanded for crossing the painted areas between the pit entry and the track. The FIA says "We do not consider that the crossing of the painted area was intentional or predictable in the circumstances." Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hopefully and that's despite the FIA attempts to slow Redbull down, Rear wing Check, Tyres Check, Pitstops Check. Flexi front wings? Mercedes airbox cooling?
I think Lando would have finished second if he pitted. He felt that was well. Perhaps he didn’t have faith in his crew to change the tires quickly enough. The margin was so thin. If the rains would have held off for 5 more minutes he wins. But ultimately, he took a risk and it really hurt the team.
In fairness, the FIA did slow down Mercedes with the change in the floor dimensions, so I’m guessing Merc reminds them weekly how they benefited Red Bull to the demise of their car. Lots of jockeying happening behind the scenes.. it would be great if FOM and FIA could focus on good racing and not regulations. Of course, the teams will bend the rules constantly if such were the case, though.
It certainly is an advantage to change engines, start from the back, and end up second. That is very difficult to replicate. If anything, this is a very unpredictable title race though, as I didn’t envision Hamilton leading with 7 races left. On paper, though, this should be Verstappen’s title to lose.
Seems like just yesterday the big battle brewing was going to be Vettel/Ferrari vs Hamilton/MB. Amazing how fast time goes by. Congrats Lewis for first to hit triple digits and win 100 races.
Well said. The world is not RedBull or any other team. No one has posted any proof that Mercedes own the FIA. Not when they cut downforce and it benefits RedBull this year. Zero proof and not a conspiracy. You get the rules, you make adjustments and must deal with it. All teams.
Hard to argue when Sainz is leading Lec in the wdc standings. He’s no one race wonder. Sainz is the real deal. Always has been. Only those blinded by romanticism will believe that Lec is somehow superior when he’s obviously not.
Binotto is happy because he cant count on both pilots to do well overall. Sainz has adapted well to Ferrari after moving to the team. He is a top pilot to me.
He is consistent and dependable. He is not the fastest but he is proving his critics wrong which included me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Is there any non-Mercedes powered team/driver who is not rooting for Verstappen to win this years championship? I think Alonso has publically mentioned that he is rooting for Verstappen, likely due to his battle with Hamilton in McLaren. Vettel has also publically mentioned that he is rooting for Verstappen, because he doesn't want Schumachers 7 titles record to be broken. I think probably even Bottas is secretly rooting for Verstappen...
Since GP Monza I think there are more pit stop mistakes than before. This time Perez and Ricciardo had a long pit stop, among others. Red Bull has pit stop mistakes in 2 consecutive races, not good.
