    Hey everyone,

Took the Testarossa on its longest journey yet with the local Ferrari group: 300 miles round trip and everything was great! Well, until the fire extinguisher decided to spew all over the interior!

And of course it happened on the twisty canyon part of the journey. I think the turns and vibrations loosened the locking pin on the extinguisher, then during another turn, the trigger jammed against the side near the passenger's side rocker panel. I heard a "Grrrrrrrrr" and looked down, seeing a huge white cloud enveloping everything inside, blocking my view! Good thing my windows were down, and that I was able to see enough of the road to stay on it!

And in case you're wondering, the fire extinguisher powder tastes like lime. :)

I have the same question as above.

You have a great mindset. All you can do, in this situation, is laugh.

I replaced my chemical extinguisher with an Element. Way easier to store.

Thanks for the compliment. My car is polarizing: either you love the way it looks or you hate the way it looks. I say to each his own (and a lot more people were drooling over my car than the Roma that was parked next to me :) )

And I was astonished by the ease of cleanup! I just got my leaf blower, rolled down both windows, opened both doors and blew most of it out! Then I came back with some slightly wet rags and took care of the rest.

that is why I not have a powder extinguisher in may car, have a CO2 extinguisher, so no powder later to clean away.

You have a wildly customized interior. Looks like you deleted the radio flip door and no Ac?

Yeah, those changes were done by the company that owned the car before I got it. It was their show car, so I think they closed off all the "user-accessible" areas to keep people from putting garbage, etc in those spots. They spent a bunch of money to do it, and the leather is nice, otherwise I would have brought it back to stock. :)

Have you ever wanted to add back the side strakes? I would probably do that, get stock or stock-looking wheels, and re-paint it all in classic gloss black.

    Joe,
In an accident, that presumably loose extinguisher will kill you. I too, need to secure my extinguisher. Good wakeup call for both of us.

Since you are buying a new extinguisher…. don’t use powder. When it hits a hot engine surface, it melts into a highly corrosive crust. It will greatly damage the surface of aluminum. A leaf blower or soap and water will not clean it up.

Remember… an electrical fire will NEVER be put out until the power is cut off. ALWAYS remember to turn OFF the battery switch in the front boot.

I have all the parts to bring it back to stock, including the strakes and wheels. And it's black underneath originally. Will probably need a respray once the wrap wears out.

Thanks for the reminder and suggestion Vincenzo. I'll do a better job securing it and buying a better one in the future.

Joe, just a suggestion. Keep a tamper proof seal tie through the safety pin / handle which will only release the pin when broken with a good tug. They really should not be removed until use. Any good fire extinguisher maintenance place should give you one or two if you tell them what they are for. See pictures below. EDoug
