Steel plate was either 8 or 10mm secured with 4 masonry bolts. It was a Gumtree special

With local councils, it's often better to solve a problem rather than ask for permission.

 

I'm sure you'll find that if you start to impede the rainwater flow your neighbours will do the complaining.

And no it’s not just because the land is flat, it isn’t, my garage s a couple of metres above the road level but just all the transitions are done properly.
