Received Palawan newsletter about it this morning.
It's nice to see how it was already listed 2 years ago to be published with Veloce Press and now it changes with a much more "collectible" publisher like Palawan Press. If I recall it correctly, original listed price should have been around EUR 120, so around GBP 100. Mmm.
Anyway, I really would like to know if it will be full of unknown and never seen pics or not, as the subject is not totally new. For sure quality will be top notch - otherwise it will be hard to justify the over pumped price.

The Veloce book was supposed to have 352 pages, whereas the Palawan version has 460 pages. As you say, enormous price difference, despite the extra pages and of course high Palawan quality. Moreover Palawan print runs are quite limited. I cannot judge, have not seen it yet.

Yesterday, my slipcased copy of the XKD 603 book arrived. In my view, Clive Beecham has done a wonderful job in writing, compiling and printing that book. It's just fabulous and will lead me through many happy weekend afternoons. Especially the treatment of historic images shows a very high standard which unfortunately is rarely seen these days. And the images from the Mille Miglia Storico at the end of the book are gorgeous!

So far, I only had time to read two chapters: the one about how the car was sold as a Le Mans winner (which she wasn't!) by Ecurie; and the one with Clive's thoughts about whether to leave the car in her old, bruised and marked livery or to restore her to perfect condition (as is done so often, wiping out any trace of history). These two chapters clearly fired up my interest to read more of the book (having read almost only Ferrari books for most of the last 38 years ;-)

The slipcase has been manufactured wonderfully and the print quality is excellent. And as a discussion is going on in another thread about how to number books: The numbering has been done by hand and by signature at the opening page in a very stylish way. Looks great!

Wise conclusion! When MOTOR magazine once compared Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II and Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9, they came to the conclusion: Indeed, the RR was, as legendarily claimed by Crewe, the best car in the world - and the Mercedes the best car in another world. Same is true for BB books ;-) (of course, I own the lovely limited edition of @piloti's BB book).

When I saw a new, unopened copy still wrapped in its foil for just 100 euros last year, I couldn't resist the temptation to buy that ;) (I like the red version more than the cover of the standard edition).

I asked directly to my personal contact in Palawan what are the main differences between their "new" product and the ones sitting on Amazon/Veloce Publishing for the last couple of years. Ok, 100 new pages full of..? Even the very few images on their website are not so rare or "unpublished".
I'm also waiting for their usual paper brochure that should illustrate better the title than the few infos on their website.
I'm surely interested but would like to know - for at least £500! - if it worths or not (to me, obviously, and based mainly on the contents over the surely amazing form: Palawan production quality is over the top), even considering that shipment outside the UK will be subjected to (very stupid) additional custom fees.

I cant find a single copy of the Veloce publication for sale anywhere (new or used). All websites which have it listed say 'unavailable' or 'withdrawn' and oddly most are quoting a publication date for the book of 15th November 2022!! I cant find it on Veloce's website either. I wonder if anyone on here got a copy when it was available?

As @bloomberg said, Veloce will not publish this. The project was probably beyond their control and Palawan offered to buy the whole thing, adding many pages and putting into it their quality control and quality in general. Also, increasing the price, obviously. We will see.

To my knowledge, Veloce just axed the Porsche project as they cancelled another advanced book project as well. Reasons are unknown.

But I think, for Roy Smith it will turn out to be a happy change, because he will become "immortal" as a Palawan author. He wouldn't have received the same fame with Veloce, whose books (in my personal view) are usually - sorry - ludicrously published with bad paper and horrific layout.
