Before you all go back to the market, here's my 1995 F355 Challenge for comparison with: Tubi headers, gutted OEM cats, and Challenge exhaust taking Turn 8 at Watkins Glen...
9 1/2 laps to go and the spider still has a 5k lead but the F1 B is closing. his could be a close one. Expect the B to push hard in the closing seconds. Image Unavailable, Please Login
The GTB F1 is the winner at 85K Issues holding it back: Headers ....10k stickies.......5k major service 10k No red fob generally untidy interior appearance. So, 25k in needs. Adjusted pice 110k is about right
There are a million threads for this, but I'll address it in the most recent exhaust thread rather than here .
Stock late headers tend to be fine. According to legend, Ansa beefed them up sometime around '97 or '98. Don't see what the problem is there. Are stickies really $5K now? I did all my HVAC vents perfectly for the price of a can of oven cleaner, a toothbrush, 400 wet sandpaper, and a can of SEM Landau Black trim paint.
Did not mean to hijack values with exhaust…. Oopsie [emoji51] Car I posted was my 1996 GTS manual with my favorite combo. And it is worth way more than I sold it for. If the current owner is on here at some point, I hope I get first dibs at market. Hopefully my ship is closer to port than I anticipated [emoji41] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The stock 355 headers produce the right sound along with low/mid range power. I just don't feel they last long enough for the price and hassle. I should have the "new" Ansa headers (purchased and installed in 2006) on my Rosso 355 by previous owner with about 12k mi on it. I'll be pulling them out and opening it up soon enough. Will probably fix any issues and install on my nero 355 if I think they're good enough. If Ansa 430 Scuderia headers are any indication of updated quality, they probably only last roughly 25k mi. I mention Scuderia because those have no cats built in, so an apples to apples comparison, although Scud headers were built much later with possibility more updated revisions in quality. @ttforcefed manual Scud has about 22k mi and the headers already showed signs of leaking. I've even heard of issues here on Fchat at around 15k mi. However, it is not often Scud header issues are discussed unlike 360/F430. Probably because the car doesn't see the miles. Do CS headers have cats?
So the owner could have put $25k into the car and gotten $110,000 -25,000 = 85,000 net. The F1 GTS only pulled $84,000 a little while back, so $85,000 for an F1 B isn't to bad. A wise man once say, we need to look at the world the way it us, not the way we want it to be.
Stickies is a sticky subject here, but I have yet to see any DIY come out as good as you know who's. But in some cases, definitely passable.
Actually, the F1 B ended about where I expected, maybe a little higher. The 72k mile spider shocked me. I expected that car to go at $60,000 or below.
Mine were redone when I bought the car, but I didn't like the quality. So I re-redid them, DIY. What do you think, acceptable? Image Unavailable, Please Login
https://bringatrailer.com/member/pedersen/ The winner also paid $575k for a Speciale, which is TOP dollar. What's another $10k on a driver quality 355 w/ a recent engine out?
The same. Image Unavailable, Please Login I refinished everything with industrial quality products. It's all base coat, clear coat. I still have to do the indoor door handles. Just to lazy to get around to taking the door cars off. again. (Had to do that when I refoamed the OEM speakers.)
If I was looking to sell a car, I'd probably attempt a DIY. For a keeper car or something with high potential value, send it to the best. One of my pet peeves is the HVAC cover not coming close in finish with the rest of the surrounding parts. What $4-5k buys you is pretty much every sticky part/buttons in the interior addressed in a durable hard-touch coating that feels like soft touch. Getting the correct "sheen" so it doesn't look like a plastic part (which is probably Ferrari's reason for going with a sticky finish in the first place) is half the battle. You also get factory correct laser-etched fonts/labeling. You also get a close finish to the HVAC cover so everything blends in uniformly and compliments the surrounding leather well. Done right, they almost look like leather covered pieces as opposed to plastic. Stickies were "addressed" in my rosso 355 by who knows who. It all looks very plastic and cheap. There's levels to this and it's up to the owner to choose what level he wants to take it. And of course, time is money. Not everyone is willing to take on something they don't know much about.
I just noticed the winning bidder bid $10k above $60k in one bid. Wasn't really much engagement after $60k. Considering how much he paid for the Speciale, this guy was definitely throwing $10k around like it was a tip. He was definitely in his own world on that one.
https://www.issimi.com/collections/buy/products/1996-ferrari-f355-berlinetta still showing on cars.com but i think it may be sold?
@tres55 I thought you might be referring to the RMC Miami car w/ an ask of $189k, but reported engine issues. @IvanRico has the details as that is a car he was in contract to buy, but ultimately passed up. But it appears even that car is now sold! http://rmcmiami.com/inventory/1996-ferrari-f355-7k-miles-gated-6-speed-berlinetta-serviced-in-april-swiss-market-car-2-owners-original-paint-unmolested/
