Just bought a 1989 euro 355 spider on BaT. Car was sold with a removed damaged belly panel (RR corner broken). Just had a belt service done near the PO’s location and have not seen the car yet.

Can someone tell me what the panel is made of and has anyone gone without one? Not easy to find for sale and not sure if the original is repairable yet.

Would not run my 458 without the panel, wanted some opinions from the 355 group.

    Thanks,
    Ted

    Congrats on the car.
There are 3 under trays plus 2 air ducts that run either side of the engine.
Are you talking about the rearmost tray? (At the motor end?

You could drive the car without it, but I wouldn’t. It does a good job of protecting the front of the engine, the belts and lower pullies.

The under trays are made of glass reinforced resin, they are easily repairable by any decent body shop or you could even have a go yourself if you’re handy with resin.

If you can get ahold of it then your best bet might be to take the broken tray and have it repaired.

All the belly pans are fiber glass. Very easy to fix. Pretty common to have these messed up from speed bumps.

I wouldn’t drive for any length of time without the undertrays-which is what you are thinking too. I have spent the past two weeks playing around with my alternator and AC belts-so some quality time underneath the car. Those areas of the car were pretty clean because of the undertrays. Without them, you could have gravel dirt etc going right into your main pulley area etc. Which even if it does not cause real damage, will make working on those areas a real mess in the future.
I was also looking for these same parts this week. This guy has a damaged one from a coupe https://www.ebay.com/itm/Ferrari-355-Coupe-Middle-Lower-Under-Tray-Damaged-P-N-64841200-/121609228910?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0
