I have all the exterior Carbon on my 812 and wouldn't consider buying one with all the cheap looking black plastic. However there is one problem with this and that is all the Carbon on Ferrari 812s are very low down and at risk of gravel rash. This needs to be covered with ppf otherwise you'll have to reapply the clear coat every couple of years. On the GTS on balance I'd always spec the Carbon just don't look at it through rose-tinted glasses.
Many of us are aiming for classic spec GTs like the Daytona spider. When I discussed this topic at TM and asked about alternatives such as painted or other options instead of CF they did not suggest these. Quite simply in 39 years CF will be dated and maybe yellowed or other. The plastic while less appealing will age better. It was not about $$. It was a choice for me. I fully agree with ScottS, it's really nothing to do with the cost as most of these are above 500K and at that point another 50-100K isn't gonna be an issue for those that are buying them. On my Pista I have full carbon inside and out as its a track focused car but to me the GTS is more of a GT cruiser, a gentlemen's car if you will, and as such I didn't want exterior carbon at all. I've seen a few in the flesh with exterior CF and thought to myself that for this build it doesn't wow me enough to get it with my exterior color choice, but that's just me. To each his own.
I did full carbon everywhere except the engine covers on my GTS. I won’t be alive in 39 years. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm just trying to figure out what to do with mine CF wise inside and out. Honestly if I had the option of them painting all the exterior bits gloss black I would click that in a second because I just don't love the cheap plastic on a car like this. Cost aside, I would actually prefer gloss black to CF in this case purely from an aesthetic pov. Right now I'm leaning toward getting the plastic ones and just have them painted gloss black at delivery. Thanks again.
Personally, I specced the race buckets and all interior carbon on my GTS order including door sills. As far as exterior goes, the only part I feel is a must is the exhaust bumper surrounds. The plastic looks horrid as it’s a large piece directly exposed to light. Front lip and side skirts aren’t as big a deal as they are more minor and expected to get scuffed up with time.
I didn’t spec any carbon on mine and I think it looks great. Random idea…I just picked up a silver defender 90 off the lot and it had/has a silver roof and I wanted it black so we wrapped it. Turned out exceptionally well. I had my whole GTS wrapped in xpel, including the black plastic…if you wrap those parts you could do it in a gloss black.
I did the same and went all exterior and interior CF on my TM. Mine is more of a sporty spec vs classic so it seemed more fitting. Definitely just a matter of preference. View attachment 3231453 View attachment 3231454 View attachment 3231455
Someone wanted a black roof on their red GTS but Ferrari refused that request on the build. Once the GTS arrived the owner had the roof wrapped in black. It was a 3M product as I recall. I thought it was a factory job initially until advised it was 3M...
Is there a carbon fiber rear diffuser option? Do you have it on your car? I can’t really tell. If you do. Could you send another pic showing the rear diffuser in carbon? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It’s amazing how good these wraps can look. I really inspected it on my defender and I could have sworn it was paint
For those that want to make the plastic gloss black just PPF it and it looks awesome! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
I had my GTS get the full PPF treatment and even added a stripe. When I get tired of it, just pull it off. The exterior black trim got the matte PPF and I think it looks fine. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
That’s beautiful. Love the color combination. I was thinking of adding one too but didn’t do it. I think it would be a nightmare to try now. Darn it
Thanks you. It's very easy to do, the stripe went on top of the PPF and my detailer easily removed the Ferrari badge along with the GPS antenna so both will have to come off when we get tired of the look. Image Unavailable, Please Login
CF on Ferraris are for looks only- there is no significant weight savings unless you order the CF racing seats compared to full electric seats. To me the exterior CF parts are too prone to road chips, gravel etc and it would pain me to see it on a daily basis thus replacing it on a regular basis would be my only recourse. I had a black 812SF with all the interior CF options and loved it except for the fact I rarely noticed it while in the car. The GTS, also black, I went without the interior carbon except for the steering wheel to get the rev lights on the wheel. I honestly thought I would miss the carbon and was second guessing myself- did I make a mistake- in a word no. The GTS is a GT and the carbon fiber screams “boy racer” to me- which is okay if I want that. Even my 2 Ducati SLs have most of their CF painted- but on those bikes the extensive CF serves the purpose of making them super light for better performance- no such luck in Ferraris. Strangely enough my Ducati Diavel body panels are all black CF but it’s all a gimmick to make the bike look more aggressive- no major weight savings as the rest of the bike is alas metal. If I were to get a track star like a Pista then I would slather it with CF in and out including the CF wheels! Boy racer indeed! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat

That appears to be the old Grigio Abu Dhabi paint there. Not sure about the 16M livery though; looks a bit lost on that big body. Great license plate for a '12' with a small size front plate to.
