Really really curious what Gasly could do in a Mercedes or let’s say a Ferrari ?
Considering the car they had to start with and the limited scope of development it’s pretty impressive. Also got their strategy and poor stops almost perfect today. Well done indeed.
Bad job Red Bull and bad job Checo. He should have got second if they pitted earlier than Hamilton! He was within 2sec after Hamilton before Hamilton's undercut.
Unfortunately for Bottas he was too busy arranging for HAM to get the lead and f’d his own race to an extent never before seen—3 pit stops including a turd.
Not any better than their current drivers; that Alpha Tauri was the 3rd fastest car in Mexico and ended up where it should. I think Pierre is a good driver, but he gets a bit overhyped because people still think AT is some garbage car, it is not.
He’s very good but obviously this was a Honda track and that car is much more developed than the Ferrari, including RBR parts.
I don’t think so…he was early-braking vs DR the entire race and was unable to pass. He’s just not a late-braker and paid dearly for it. fastest lap…he was already out of the points.
I think Checo brings an element of team spirit to RBR. He’s okay being the number 2 and will do what is needed to support Max. He’s like Massa with Schumacher…quick enough to impact others but not to compete with the #1 guy.
His move on the Mercs in T1 was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G. Very mature race as well. The passion of the Mexican people for their home race and their home driver is something very special, too. I loved to watch the “GOAT”/Loulou/Butler/Toto/Merc meltdown… Good race for our boys, too!
I think if VB is “the Butler”, Checo must be the Mayordomo. He openly roots for Max to win (not that I see a problem with it…teamwork matters)
based on today’s behavior (and the other times they’ve raced each other), I don’t think VB will do that. He’s pretty respectful…almost too courteous.
We have achieved much more than I thought possible with the limits on development. The team is functioning better as a unit. It is all hard work ahead though.
Sky kept saying that back markers "hurt" Lewis. But doesn't being behind a lapped car give Lewis DRS, also? Give Ham his due: he held off the faster RB. Dunno why Ferrari gave the positions back. Carlos was faster than Charles most of the race. Charles usually quicker, but not today.
Because it was agreed upon, and Lec literally let Sainz through. Ofc we could have had an overtaking game between team mates, but as Checo showed with Ham, overtaking here was next to impossible. Carlos was faster on the 2nd stint cause he had over 10 laps fresher tires, first stint they were pretty even.
Congrats to Max and Checko for a super performance all race long. Bottas was unlucky and then he did a Bottas and remained invisible.
The turbulence hurt Lewis the way it hurt Sergio in the end. Great drive by both, Lewis did well to hold off the hometown hero.
