I think red bull ****ed up wit sergio...they should have gone for the undercut on elton, sergio was faster, and he preserves tires better than anyone...as well as being a very good defender.
So good. He seized the opportunity in T1 and never looked back. But looking at his pace, even had he not come out in front I think he would have likely overtaken elton et al for the lead later. He's finally got a solidly competitive car and it's not even close now.
For all the flack he gets it must be said that Bottas doesn’t play dirty. The incident where he took out Max was just him running out of talent. The only times I remember him being “dangerous” was when he was at Williams and would go out of his way to fight Kimi in the Ferrari. Also, as he showed today, he will respect his contractual engagements and not damage HAM and will try to help where he can but will not go above and beyond anymore—not since he got the boot from the team. He seems more interested in showing his speed in quali or in the race when he’s in a position to win.
“solidly competitive”? Lol. He had that last season, he has a ‘very well sorted’ car this year that has no weaknesses. Adrian Newey + Max= WDC 2021
Not the most exciting race. Pace was all RedBull as predicted. Traffic helped LH keep 2nd. Max flawless. With 2 or 3 other wins he would be title man already! Its hard to see a Mercedes title in either category now. On to Brazil!
Red Bull is the better car, and, begrudgingly, I have to admit Horner and crew are doing an excellent job on the pit wall also (I don’t like Horner). I don’t think Max is doing anything more than getting the “max” out of the car. He’s all business. On the other hand, Merc has been on the back foot most of the season, and they’re made the critical mistakes we haven’t seen the past 7 years. The championship should be over already, save the effect of accidents. As Murray Walker says though, “anything can happen in Formula 1, and it usually does”. It will come down to the final race, as unlikely as that should be
I guess I am going to have to come to grips with the notion that Stroll's title hopes are slipping away. Oh well, there's always next year. Next year.
I'm a fairly new F1 watcher but I have been in the racing world for years. I think today's race was pretty clean. Ferrari moved up in the constructors points, great pit stops. Ferrari, in my opinion is getting ti together. They don't have the secret sauce yet, but are getting pretty solid and consistent. Some good racing action. JMTC
I think overall they have their stuff together as a team. They have provided Max with a very capable car that doesn’t have any areas of weakness (last year it was the engine). Merc, otoh, hasn’t figured out how to get the tires to work as effectively following the change in the floor specs. Even so, that’s not the reason they are behind, with points left on the table due to on-track and strategic errors.
Compared to the Mercedes, it does have weaknesses. Merc has superior top speed, is faster in the high speed corners as well, and thr merc is (far) superior on the medium tyre compound. Of course this also means that red Bull is faster in the slow corners... I still think Max is making more of a difference to it all and making the red bull better than it is (not that it's a bit car, far from it). Put gasly and Perez in that car and It simply wouldn't be a regular contender. Same goes for Lewis btw, though I think if it was bottas and say ocon in the car, they'd have won fewer races, but still leading the championship (so long we imagine max isn't in the red bull). We'd have seen ferrari possibly win a race and mclaren a couple. The Silverstone upgrade really put the merc in a sweet spot.
Agree. He lacks the aggressive what max, leclerc, Lewis, ricciardo have in order to get it done on track.had he gone for the undercut around lap 29 he'd have passed lewis
Great to see powered by Honda with P1, 3 and 4 today and just 1 point out of the top spot for the constructors Starting to feel more comfortable about Max getting the driver's championship Hamilton and Bottas are generally reliable about getting into the upper points scoring so the constructors win for Honda is still iffy

They're so ****ed if Russell next year ignores wolffs' commands.
when I say “no weaknesses”, I’m not saying in comparison to Merc (although saying RBR is inferior to Merc on mediums is a direct contrast to what Max said after qualifying yesterday). What I mean is: well-powered engine, stable under braking, easy on the curbs, unbeatable at altitude (engine) and gives Max what he wants. Yes, it can oversteer and eat tires if driven too hard, but it’s the most balanced car on the grid. Again, Newey has given Max the car to win in, and he’s doing the rest. Agree that Sergio would not be winning if he and Gasly were the team. But I think Max, Lewis and Charles are at a different level. Norris needs to grow a bit, as his form has dropped off since the Spa shunt. He’ll get it back together. Just know that acknowledging the RBR as the better car doesn’t impugn Max as a driver. He’s a machine…a Terminator behind the wheel. Should be up there for a long time. (Bottas did leave the door open, btw. Hit the brakes far too early, but that’s his driving style. He did the same almost every lap vs Ricci)
People really believe Bottas is a better driver than Perez ? Don’t think so. The Mercedes is a slightly better car compared to the RB16B.
I don’t think Bottas is a better driver, but I do believe the RBR is much more difficult to drive if your name isn’t Max. Checo definitely had a faster car in this race, and had Red Bull pulled him in right after Hamilton, they would have had a 1-2 result, I’m guessing.
Agree with that. The difference between the merc and red Bull isn't extreme. Only in a few races did either a red Bull or merc have a clear advantage, apart from that the difference between the two isnt obvious. +1
If Bottas is a real man he will try to win all races from now on and won't switch positions with Hamilton. He has nothing to lose.
Bottas had an outstanding junior career, Perez didn't. Perez basically arrived and remained in F1 solely because he brought many millions from Mexico. However last year he did very well indeed. This year Bottas has 63% of HAM points, whereas Perez only 53% of Vers. So yes, Bottas is better than Perez.
