So I saw a post that Someone mentioned their grey 575 didn’t get as noticed as their other Ferrari’s. Anyways I thought it might be fun for members to chime in on what they thought was the most “discreet” of the more modern Ferrari’s (say post 1980ish)
Personally I think I’m up there with mine, a Pozzi blu 612 scaglietti.

I say the 456 just because it’s styling is so subtle, but still a pretty car.

I have a black 575m and I agree that it is rarely noticed. Personally, I prefer the lack of attention!

I tried to track down a Rosso Barchetta 456M GTA that was sold in California a few years back to no avail. I wanted that car BAD, Daytona Seats, Piping, Shields, it was a lovely spec.

I know this is about new cars but when I was in college I was shown a dark blue 250 GTE in driver condition with real patina.
Ever since then I've thought it would be neat to have something similar with no horse on the grille, no hood badge, no Ferrari name on the tail, maybe even no prancing horse on the horn button. Probably no Pininfarina badges on the sides of the front fenders. Maybe no horse on the Borrani knock off.
Just remove all identifying marks and metal-in the holes for the badges.
I'd be really curious to see if you could make it disappear from people's radar. Obviously it would have to be far from red in color and the more 'driver' condition, the better.

    456. Cause, hate to say it, looks like a ford probe especially in dark colors.

Given the 456 was introduced before the Probe, the more apropos statement is the Probe trying to look like a 456.

Reminds me when folks say a Mondial looks like an MR2, 412 looks like a Prelude or a Daytona looks like a C4

They all got it backward. Imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery.

It's like saying "I hate to say it, but Bowie sounds like Vanilla Ice."

My "low-key," no-shields Nero Daytona '00 550 Maranello is not as low-key as I thought it might be when I bought it. It gets noticed alright. I see people whipping out their cell phones to snap photos all the time at intersections. I get asked about it almost every time I'm filling it up with gas. People seem to know intuitively it's a Ferrari, if not exactly what year or model.

This point is well taken, although to be fair to @ace_pilot, I didn't read his comment as suggesting that one or the other was 'trying' to look like the other or came first. It may still look quite like a Ford Probe without being an imitation post-dating the Probe.
