I don't think there was the intent to insult Checo. I think he was merely pointing out that Sergio has been nowhere near him for most of the season, yet he was breathing heavily down his neck and rightfully should have finished in front of him. Sometimes guys are processing on the fly and the point was pretty spot on, imo. It would be one thing if he and Sergio have diced like that most of the season. That has not been the case. In thin air, the Red Bull was a vastly superior car.

Agree on that. Perez has had inferior machinery for most of his career. How many years in Mercedes for Bottas? Let's see how he handles the Alfas.

Checo's father revealed that @Charles_Leclerc called his son yesterday:

"Checo, you don't know how happy it made me to see your parents celebrate like that. It brought tears to my eyes. I would have loved for my dad to see me [like that]."

    Good stuff from Charles!

    That's exactly it.

Max never makes apologies for his statements. So even though he can be rude than most, he's not a hypocrite about it.

2nd; anyone else hat has spend time in the Netherlands or dealt with dutch people in business....they all know we speak our mind with swear words thrown in left right and centre. Though we use them, they have far less the impact/meaning behind it all in the same context. Than in other languages.

The one radio call where HAM was asking where he could be quicker, I guess we don't worry about "coaching" the driver unaided like in the past.

Oh well, with the close battle for the championships, I'm full of Horner and Wolf and don't need to hear from them again this year.

Max has both driven well and seems to have matured right in front of our eyes this season, and it seems he now realizes that he's got to score points more than risk crashing out. The two incidents with HAM plus the BOT "torpedo" in Hungary have reinforced this.

after watching Bottas on board from the start, he just braked way earlier than both HAM and VER, like he just totally gave the position to HAM, and of course Max was on the racing line and passed them both.

I really rooted for Botas. I like him. But I just don't think he's that good.

Bottas just had a touch slower start that didnt work for the Mercedes plan it appears. No conspiracy to not aid LH etc. Simple physics with Max and LH both having better starts by very few meters.

Mercedes explains tow plan for Hamilton into Mexico Turn 1
    By: Luke Smith

Mercedes planned for Valtteri Bottas to help Formula 1 team-mate Lewis Hamilton by giving him a tow off the line in Mexico, only for Max Verstappen to overtake both cars.

After trailing Red Bull in practice, Mercedes turned the tables by taking a front row lockout in qualifying as Bottas pipped Hamilton to pole.

But Verstappen managed to sweep into the lead from third on the grid after a late-braking move around the outside at Turn 1, gaining an advantage that he converted into a dominant race win to extend his points lead over Hamilton in the title battle.

Hamilton noted after the race that Bottas had “left the door open” for Verstappen to pass around the outside, while the Dutchman admitted his overtake had been “really on the edge”.

Speaking in Mercedes’ post-race debrief, motorsport strategy director James Vowles explained how the fastest Turn 1 approach of the year in Mexico made it important to plan out a strategy.

Mercedes had intended for Bottas to make use of his grid position advantage to help give Hamilton a tow to protect him from Verstappen behind.

“The strategy and approach to Turn 1 was quite straightforward here,” Vowles explained. “For Valtteri, if he had a good start, he was going to let Lewis tow along behind him and make sure that he covered off that threat from Verstappen.

“The starts, as they turned out, was that Valtteri had a slightly worse start than both Verstappen and Lewis - not a lot, around about four metres or so, but it was sufficient that Lewis wasn’t able to tuck up behind.

“More so, Verstappen's start being good meant he was alongside Valtteri very, very quickly. The result of that is they ended up three-wide incredibly quickly and early on during the run down into Turn 1.”
