    So this is what RBR have been complaining about all these last few races—how Merc got a surge in top speed. Maybe combined with turning up the engines, this must have been a contributing factor.

    So now they’re paying the price with engine reliability and hopefully a penalty. Though might have been better to protest after the race and get him excluded from the results.

    FIA should mandate sensors on the the wing flaps of both Mercs, going forward. ;)

    On a high downforce track the effect is even larger. Can also use much more downforce as the difference is won back on the straight with drs open.

    The meeting of Adrian Newey and Paul Monaghan with the FIA, one hour before qualifying was about the bending of the rear wing of the Mercedes (flexi wing) and unrelated to the current DRS infringement investigation.
