If it turns out the stewards rule Hamilton car was in breach of technical regulations, he will for sure be DQ'd from the Friday qualifying which was to set the order of the sprint race. So I believe he will be forced to start from the pitlane of the Sprint race. But I was thinking, if its a case of clear cheating, then remember BAR was banned for 2 (?) races in 2005 after being DQ'd? I am sure this will never happen in today's soft society especially with the Hamilton though. Regardless, Mercedes will be forced to change the rear wing and that technically breaches Parc Ferme rules, and that is a violation that carries into the race. If they try to enforce that, then Lewis will not even race in the Sprint race which saves him any risk of getting caught in an accident (important in budget cap era), not to mention it saves his engine, gearbox, chassis.
yap, but if he fails roo race tomorrow that will be a handicap cause he won't be able to climb a fewn places for sunday's race...
No decision from the FIA until the morning - stewards awaiting further evidence #F1 Unbelievable. Just wow. Further evidence for what?! The car didn't pass scrutineering, you can gather all the evidence you want but fact of the matter is that it didn't pass scrutineering! Unbelievable. If they pass this car they set a nasty, nasty precedent. Red bul should show up with drs that opens 200mm, overboost engine, no fuel flow limit, movable suspension...
I’m going to guess that a) because Bottas’ car did not have the same issue, that b) Merc is claiming malfunction so c) they will review other wings to see if the gap shows up elsewhere. just a guess. Selfishly, I’d like the championship challenge to end this way. Down to the wire!
The drs is stopped using hard stops so a malfunction excuse goes out the window. A mistake aligning is all they can say but even so they can not allow this car with this wing go unpunished. The standard punishment for technical infringement is dsq and start from back in the race
as I said they dq seb for low fuel which had zero effect on performance but this infringement has performance advantages and they need time to decide? FIA credibility is at play here.
Apparently Mercedes is using the excuse that Max touched their rear wing and that broke it. So hold on. This wing can withstand over 1500kg of downforce but it breaks by max simply touching it? Is max the hulk in his spare time?
