the RBR was that way last weekend. Ham’s new engine is, or course, a heavy contributor but in the hands of VB he hasn’t been able to overcome Max. We can’t tell what will happen from one circuit to the next, but it was thought that RBR held the advantage for both Mexico & Brazil and the pundits were half right. The last three reportedly favor Merc, but I’ll wait and see what occurs at each circuit. Planet F1 actually had Verstappen win 3 of the final four, only giving the nod to Hamilton at Abu Dhabi because Max will have already wrapped up the title.

 

Christian Horner said that Honda PU’s only degrade a single tenth of a second. Unlike the Benz’s, RBR can’t just find another 100 HP with a PU replacement.

Lewis Hamilton has been hit with a fine for undoing his seatbelts on the cool-down lap following Sunday’s Formula 1 race at Interlagos.

No way that merc engine is the same they started the year with, now ****ing way....toto is cheating all over the place...

 

Wouldn't say Toto..more like the engineers. But I wouldn't go as far to call it cheating tho. They have some how found some extra power. That car was crazy fast this weekend..how they accomplished this should be looked into.

Both Hamilton and Bottas have had PU changes this year numerous times..none have come close to this units performance level.

 

The internet sleuths will get to bottom of this PU brouhaha.

Never mind it’s from the end of 2021 so teams can continue development. Kudos to MB’s engineering department- yet again.

 

I'm betting Merc turned the engine up a bit for this weekend to make up for the anticipated 5 place penalty - they'll probably turn it back down next weekend. This is how the inability to change engine modes during a weekend plays out, and honestly I kind of like it. Great drive by Hamilton, pretty exciting race overall. Ferrari seems to have really cemented 3rd place at this point, the only non RB or Merc not to get lapped and in a normal season where they would actually be developing the car, I'd imagine they'd be battling at the front as the chassis appears to be quite good. If only they had the '19 cheater engine...

 

Sounds most plausible…

 

they are basically racing a car with a 2 year old chassis. Under the rules they could only develop the rear suspension and as such were limited in development due to “tokens”. I’m confident that with the new rules they will be more competitive, they apparently solved their correlation issues, etc.

Enjoyed that. Titanic battle at the front from the best two drivers in this years grid fighting it out in the two best cars. Given all the in season crashes and incidents between these two so far, I was expecting more of the same, but somehow that didn’t happen.

Max was lucky that the stewards have finally realised that hard racing should be allowed. Earlier in the season, he would definitely have got a penalty. Max drove superbly to try and defend his lead, but Ham had the advantage today and got the job done. I will admit I thought Max would leave Brazil with the wdc more or less in the bag. But no, the season is very much alive and it looks like it’s going all the way to Abu Dhabi. Epic stuff and a fitting send off for what will otherwise be described as the dullest era in F1 history.
