What is the charge for a cover to totally conceal that monstrosity of an engine.

It’s going to be as lame sounding as the 488-Pista-F8, perhaps even worse.
The design is elegant, but not what Ferrari should be, more of an Aston/Jag pretty car vs aggressive.
IDK who is designing their cars since the 458 but it has been a string of complete misses. More like an apparel company than a car company.

Agree about the 296. Not about the F8/Pista

I don't understand why we have this topic on this section of the forum, when there is a dedicated 296 section with dozens threads like this...

On paper at least the 296 has a superior ICE to the MC20.

It's not about the cylinder count, but the harmonics they produce (and that is dependent on firing order, crank design, exhaust layout, revs etc).

What do you mean by "cheating"? Most cars are turbocharged nowadays. It's funny to insinuate that something is awry.

Same 0-100 kph (traction limited probably), but the 296 is 0.5'' quicker to 200, as per Ferrari's stats.

I posted it here because I was comparing the 296 to my F8 at the unveiling. Is it that serious? It’s been a fun thread to read. Just enjoy man!

If I was king for a day, I would separate the 458/488/F8 combined thread into 3 individual threads for each. No need to tell me the reasoning why they are together. Remember, I am king for the day.

I really like the 296 and I think it’s a great platform for the performance variants to follow. I think it’s better looking than the 458 and 488. I prefer the rear over the F8. The F8 has a better looking front end.

You don’t want to upset the man who does not own a Ferrari or any super car.

He can’t. When you don’t actually own and experience these cars they’re just facts and figures. Top trumps. Each successive model more capable. When you own, it’s fun. You appreciate all of them.

I drove the MC20 on the track at Verano, Italy. The MC20 is Maserati’s first attempt at a supercar since the MC12.
I came back from Italy and placed my deposit on the F8 the following week. The MC20 isn’t at the same level as Ferrari.
I currently own a Maserati GT. There are many things that Maserati needs to learn about building a supercar. Building a carbon fiber tub and bolting a turbo V6 onto it doesn’t make you a supercar.

Oh no... What I meant by cheating is that it is a turbo engine with a toaster motor. Forced induction is where I draw the line. Any witchcraft above that is cheating in my book. These days, any car will reach amazing times and performance by adding an electric motor. Just not interested, except if it is an 918. I will eat my words for that and only that car.

BTW, toasters don't have motors. they have resistors.
I also don't see how a 918 is any different in concept.

I think ferrari should offer a carbon engine cover as an option that hides it as well as possible tbh, I think quite a few people would tick it

Geesuz Cryistl!!!! It's a joke. Ease up! In my eyes all EVs are toasters, just like a kitchen appliance. It is far from being a car. It is a tool for transportation. It has no soul and it gives no passion. Therefore, I call the hybrids, in this case, a Turbo Toaster. That is all.

The 918 is not an exception to this. However, I really like the car. That's all.

    You can sleep now.

I have a deposit for a Z06 (low number so I should get one during the first model year). Since I owned both 458 and 488 Spiders I was ready for something really new and the F8 didn’t do it for me. The pics of the 296 didn’t wow me so I’m hoping when I see it in person it will change my mind.
At this point it’s more likely I will take the Z06 and see what Ferrari does next.

Z06 is definitely a bright spot in this market. I personally really like the 296 but I’ll want to test drive before I buy.

I’m interested in the 296 but after looking at more and more photos I’m just not thrilled about it. I think it’s nice looking but not exciting looking. I’m worried about the cramped no leg room tight small interior….in other words my 6’5” frame won’t fit.

I know most here are die hard Ferrari guys…. Would you say Lamborghini or McLaren would be Ferrari’s biggest competitor? Lamborghini is supposed to be coming out with new Aventador and Huracan models so I wonder what those will be like?

right now, believe it or not, seems like Corvette, Historically, it has always been Lamborghini and will likely continue to be. I think Chevy is coming on strong to try to participate with the big boys. But has some big shoes to fill. Have to prove that is durable and can keep up. However, the one to beat as far as performance, is McLaren. That is the top dog. Unfortunately, it has had some issues with long term reliability and durability. Not that I have had one but I have heard from a few owners.
