He wasn't a good shot. He shot the people behind the camera. I wouldn't have thought that needed to be spelt out, but ok. Signature www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
They're mostly real guns. Just that they use blanks, not real bullets. Although you can get killed by a blank if it's close to your head, etc. That has happened as well. No doubt there will be some new regs put into place after this. The fault in this case appears to be with the man who told Baldwin that the gun was "cold". Meaning no live rounds.
There's no need for a real gun on a movie set, that's what special effects are for. After "a gun is always loaded", and "never point a gun", the next rule is never hand anyone a gun (or accept a gun) unless it's unloaded with the chamber open/magazine off.
I have to say, that's pretty bloody stupid, and it's amazing there haven't been many more "accidents" (both with and without quotation marks).
Brandon Lee's death was one of the more famous accidents. https://people.com/movies/eliza-hutton-breaks-silence-28-years-after-fiance-brandon-lees-death-in-the-wake-of-rust-shooting/ An easy was to mod a gun so that it doesn't work is to remove the firing pin. Then they would still look real. The effects dept. could add a bang and a flash with CGI. I think the use of real Ferraris should be banned. They destroyed 4 cars for this one scene:
There should never be any live rounds on a movie set. I wonder if there was some goofing off with live rounds after scenes had been shot. With regards to CGI, it's easy to insert the "bang and flash", harder to replicate the slide moving back and forwards on a semi auto, whereas using blanks can do that, especially if a weak recoil spring has been fitted to facilitate that.
I just heard they were using that gun to shoot cans earlier. Signature www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
The armorer said that didn't happen. https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/rust-armorer-hannah-gutierrez-reed-breaks-silence-153507790.html Recent Baldwin interview:
Well of course she'd say that. I guess we'll find out eventually. Signature www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
That's what my thoughts were. They used blanks, after the shoot they put some live rounds in to shoot some ****..............then the live rounds got mixed up with the blanks and there you have it. Amateur stuff and hopefully someone is held accountable.
Stupid Question... Excellent Answer! For those that don't know him, Major General Peter Cosgrove is an Australian. General Cosgrove was interviewed on the radio recently. Read his reply to the lady who interviewed him concerning guns and children. Regardless of how you feel about gun laws you have to love this! This is one of the best comeback lines of all time. This is a portion of an ABC radio interview between a female broadcaster and General Cosgrove who was about to sponsor a Boy Scout Troop visiting his military Headquarters. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: So, General Cosgrove, what things are you going to teach these young boys when they visit your base? GENERAL COSGROVE: We're going to teach them climbing, canoeing, archery and shooting. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Shooting! That's a bit irresponsible, isn't it? GENERAL COSGROVE: I don't see why, they'll be properly supervised on the rifle range. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: Don't you admit that this is a terribly dangerous activity to be teaching children? GENERAL COSGROVE: I don't see how. We will be teaching them proper rifle discipline before they even touch a firearm. FEMALE INTERVIEWER: But you're equipping them to become violent killers. GENERAL COSGROVE: Well, Ma'am, you're equipped to be a prostitute, but you're not one, are you? The broadcast went silent for 46 seconds and when it returned, the interview was over. God I would pay money to have seen her face... I bet it would have made lemon juice look like honey.
