it's a really tricky question, young people prefer lambo the most as the image is so shouty which appeals to the instagram generation etc

the new aventador and huracan models will just be more of the same, stupidly good performance that's unusable on the road and overt styling :)

Saw the 296 tonight at the reveal at my Ferrari dealer. The car is more visually impressive in person than in photos or videos. It is elegant, refined and organic. The 296 is more GT aesthetically than it is race car. It’s design aesthetic has nothing in common with super cars like the STO or the 765LT which are bolder, braver and more extreme.

The interior is highly attractive and is more modern and forward in design than the Pista or the F8. It nevertheless is familiar but represents a push forward to a new future.

The engine is not visually appealing unlike virtually every other Ferrari. But the engine cover and the roof line is stunning .

I really like it. It’s different. But I feel compared to so many other cars now with crazy fins, wings and aero everywhere it’s nice to have a softer and more sleek super car.

For those who find the Roma appealing, the 296 will be appreciated at a higher level. MSRP in Canada- $367000 CAD. Should be about $300,000US

Ok - that was funny - browsing through Fchat and see these pictures posted, only to see myself in two of them. Got a chuckle. I didn't sign any release though!! :)

I don't think I'd do any exterior carbon on the 296. Will Ferrari paint the panels that are either carbon or plastic in gloss black? I'd do the interior carbon but there isn't much in the interior to even get. I don't see a reason to go crazy on the spec of a 296. Race seats, passenger LED, diamond cut wheels, Rosso Imola paint. Should be able to squeak it in under $350k.

Same, I did only driver zone carbon since I really enjoy carbon wheel and paddles on my current car. I will do the gloss black PPF on the plastic outside if I feel it needs to be darkest.

$350k is too optimistic. Lifter, carbon driver zone, surround camera, hifi sound, Apple CarPlay, electric Daytonas and a historic color option (14-16k) it was shockingly close to a 765. They warned the final price might start with a 4. It had better be “fun to drive!”

$400k + (so $440k after taxes and PPF) just seem way too much to me for a regulation production Ferrari. With that said, 830 HP is $1mm+ territory just 6 years ago. But doesn't it feel like Ferrari is pushing the market?

Without driving the car - it does not look like a $450K car.

I'd buy this car if it didn't have all that hybrid stuff. I don't see the point of all the extra weight, complication, and expense.

Not crazy about the "wiz bang" electronic buttons either but its not a big deal. Just seems like more to go wrong to me.

I think its beautiful but for that money I'm not sure I want the headaches for a little better acceleration. The F8 is more appealing to me even with its turbos.

I think the main problem of the car in terms of design is the upper line of the front windshield. Its middle points to the front and if you see the same line on the F8 or SF90 - it points to the other direction, which makes the whole "face" of the car much different.

I think the GT4 RS is also a bright spot.

The problem with the GT4RS is that it is the same price as the latest GT3, which is more desirable. In Canada, price with decent options is $215000.

The car looks much better in person IMO. Will spec Carbon Sport Seat, Carbon Driver Zone, Imola Red (or yellow) rear view camera, LOGO, and probably lift as well (seems without it the car will have a harder time to be sold in the future)

Right. To this I agree. I look at it as perhaps Turbo S money +20%. A $300k all in car. With that said, I’m sure it will sell. Ferrari is the ultimate brand.

Ferrari will sell as many of them as they require. No issue.

I want to like the car. I think it would be, in theory, a wonderful compliment to the 765. Certainly from an aesthetic standpoint it is. How it drives though will be the determining factor.

The price is not a deterrent for me. The exterior does not require much in the way of carbon fiber. High gloss black trim is necessary. The engine is so unsightly, no amount of carbon fiber in the engine bay can salvage the appearance. Due to hybrdization, and new technology it is inevitable that gremlims will develop. If the driving dynamics are appealing, I would wait a couple of years to sort out any issues.

I was there on Friday evening as well. Agree with your earlier comments. Still excited to have this delivered.

The cover in the engine bay was all melted looking on this touring demo model. Wonder why.

It’s not really a problem when you consider that both cars are good value and arguably should be priced similarly given they use the same engine.

But one is a Cayman and the other is a 911.

Or you could argue that one is a proper mid engined sports car with inherently better poise and balance than that with an engine hanging out of its ass.

And don’t forget you are comparing little brother’s RS version to a standard GT3. The GT3RS will most certainly be a significant bit higher in price.

Personally I’d choose the GT3 because IT’S A GT3. But if Andreas Preuninger says they’re not the same and that many will own both, who are we to argue? That man is the most genuine enthusiast in this business and watching him talk about this car is a treat. I get the sense that they finally let him build the Cayman he wanted instead of purposely neutering it so as not to encroach on the vaunted 911.
