Horner told the FIA that his reaction was one that was made "under the pressure of competition" following Verstappen's penalty, but stewards explained that the marshal concerned was "doing his job in precisely the manner prescribed in the International Sporting Code." Their statement said Horner offered to apologise to the marshal concerned and to explain to the media that he meant no offense, which was accepted by the stewards. He also offered to participate in the 2022 FIA International Stewards Programme. After visiting the stewards to explain his actions, Horner apologised for any offence that his remarks may have made – especially to the marshals involved. "Some comments were made, I think, in our interview earlier where you asked me about the marshalling and.... I'd like to make it clear that marshals do a wonderful, wonderful job," he told Sky. "They are volunteers, and they do a great job. And my frustration in what I voiced earlier wasn't at marshals, it was at a circumstance. "So if any offence was taken by any individual, then obviously I apologise for that. But it's still frustrating to end up with the situation that we had." Horner said that he had also said sorry to the FIA stewards, as he made clear that his annoyance was more with the goings on around the yellow flags than the actions of any individual. "I spoke with the FIA. I apologised if any offence in any way was created, because it wasn't the intention," he said. "My frustration wasn't with an individual marshal. It was with a situation where one car had driven [through], there was no yellow. One car gets a single yellow, one car gets a double yellow. So it's the inconsistency across that. "We can learn from that. As a sport we can learn from that, but all the marshals out there: we need you, we think you do a wonderful job. And apologies if any offence was interpreted." Horner denied that the aggression in his original comments was a sign of the pressure of the title getting to him – as he suggested Mercedes' Toto Wolff had shown more visible signs of emotions with his now famous gesture to the cameras in Brazil last weekend. "I think we've actually been fairly pretty good without our emotions," he said. "I haven't been pointing and swearing at cameras or that kind of thing. "I'm straight. I tell you what I think. If I think you are being an arse, I will tell you you are being an arse."

Explained by Mario Isola: FL tires worn to 100%, no energy absorption for the carcass from high energy impacts over the curbs. Pressure loss was relatively well contained allowing drivers not to lose control. All the punctures were on cars running long and at or over the maximum laps based on learning from Friday wear analysis.
Wonder if Honda is contemplating putting in a new Engine for Max the way MBZ has done for Lewis to even up the score. Especially with the fact that MBZ is keeping the Brazil engine in hand.
Great job by Max staying within a few seconds of first and gaining the FL point even before putting on the softs. This championship world be in the bad for him now we’re out not for HAM and BOT torpedoing him at Silverstone and Hungary!! Not to mention Baku. But, of course, this is lost on the muppets at Sky who think HAM deserves to be in the running still.
100% however, remember the same thing happened to Alonso in 2012 with Kimi and Lettuce taking him out. RB's bendy front wing at the time. I always thought that Alonso was robbed of that championship in 2012 and if Max loses it this year it will be definitely down to the nonsense of Baku (tire failure) and Silverstone and Hungary.

Agreed here The standings are what they are LH has been driving at the top of his game during the most recent 2 events Powered by Honda has had fairly good days on the most recent 2 races with P2 and 4. Also getting P11 and 13 today Bottas' tire issue/DNF today certainly helps Powered by Honda'a chances in the Constructor's category Nail biting to the end to see if Max and/or Powered by Honda will get the top honors for the season
Agree, bad luck for Verstappen. But Red Bull strategists have also screwed up a few times this year, costing valuable points. Most recently in the race of Mexico, wherein both Red Bull cars were faster than Hamilton, but Red Bull didn't do the undercut therefore Perez got 3rd place instead of 2nd place. That's 3 valuable points for Red Bull! Also in Italy bad pitstop from Red Bull (besides bad start from Verstappen), otherwise Verstappen should have won that race, extending the lead over Hamilton in points.
Can someone explain the logic of saving the faster engine from last week and risking a loss this week when MB needed to win 3 in a row? Was today's track smaller and didn't need the top end speed? Or is last week's engine so highly stressed it couldn't make 4 races to finish the season?
I think it was a bit of both - so save the engine for the next 2 tracks which will really benefit from the engine down the straights- as it stands now Hamilton needs to win the next two races and will get the WDC no matter if Max comes second or not. Best, Sammy
Officially, they don't want it to lose its performance advantage. Unofficially, they used the engine as cover for other things.
and Monza..........some of that is on Max as well. This would not be the first title season with controversy. If LH wins this the utter conspiracy of the world will be pushed by some that its all due to Silverstone etc. It takes 2 drivers for some of this, minus Baku. What needs to be said is how little actual development between some teams has taken place due to next year focus. This title and season are at the end of an era and in the background 2022 means more with distinct changes and potential for mix up of the grid. Who will adapt to the new cars quickly. Will Ricci gain the upper hand or will Max struggle and even LH as well. I look forward to seeing the end of this and it will be fun. Next year interests me even more now as this door closes on 2021 F1. RedBull with its conspiracy mouth pieces of Horner and Marko - add Jos will toss out all kinds of things potentially. Certainly fans. The world will turn and next year will be here soon and this season forgotten rather quickly. We have had a superb season presented to us. Speed, close battles and the politics surrounding it. F1 - not much really new in that formula lol Will Ferrari shine? Be fast and challenge? Even more interest for that. Sainz and Charles have been close that I thought. Will the new car bring us an even close team battle and will Ferrari have to manage 2 strong drivers who are both at the front for the title? This is going to be an interesting winter and testing will be amazing. So much to come.
Minimize degradation and employ its greater power for the long straights in Saudi and Yas. The simulation for Losail probably showed the other LH motor would provide sufficient power to be at the front and win potentially.

Well, I am REALLY looking forward to 2022 - as the « 2014 Formula » - for obvious reasons - never really appealed to me. Imagine our boys Charles & Carlos battling it out between the 2 of them for the WDC next year, with Maxie and Loulou driving around anonimously somewhere down the field. Now that would really set this forum ON FIRE!!!!! VAMOS!!!!
What I understood is the sudden speed improvement of Hamilton since Brazil being all due to the new engine. Now they used an old engine and still they were firmly on top. Different that the races before Brazil. This does however prove they did something else to the car right?
