Why stop at 2022? I'll stick my neck waaaaay out and predict until 2025

-GM will go broke for not getting enough reliable electric cars out fast enough. If China US relations sour they won't be able to sell Buicks and Cadillacs in China, their major market

Ford will fail. The Mustang E and F150 electric lightning weren't enough. First they will drop Lincoln and reduce to 40% of their present size, sell a factory to Tesla

Toronto will become the site of the next Tesla factory

Chrysler will make an electric Challenger equal in performance to their ICE cars

Chrysler will drop bringing Fiat to US

Maserati will be bought by Ferrari

Ferrari will have an electric Dino that will beat the Tesla sport car on the track and underprice it,

Car buying will be done online and new cars delivered to the home

Tesla will make a pursuit police car, starting it off with equipping Beverly Hills or Palm Beach

Tesla will be the first automaker to design and offer a model with a slide out battery tray so rather than wait to recharge you just opt for a 5 minute quick change battery change

Nastily, theft of slide out batteries will be a new crime just as stealing of catalytic converters is now

Autonomous cars will be perfected as far as software but implementation will be postphoned for years by a big case in which an autonomous car runs over some schoolchildren. It will only be resolved by a billion dollar payout fund for those victims of autonomous cars that go awry

Internal combustion cars will be restricted to use one day at a time by special permit, so there will still be say a Monterey Car Week but participants will have to pay heftily for by the day permits, proceeds going to electric car development

Amazon will go into the car business big time with n electric but screw up, bringing Elon Musk great joy

    Any I missed?

Tesla will start country clubs that only Tesla owners can go to

I can’t see Ferrari going lower priced vs the Tesla roadster

    What about Lucid?

If their quality is solid I see Lucid chomping on some Tesla market share because at some point the Tesla customers will realize they are being duped with a sub Corolla product that goes fast and has gee whiz tech

I disagree with the charging assessment. In my tesla charging up to 80 percent takes about 7 minutes. Older models take a bit more time. With the money being invested on level 3 chargers and tech, I see a gas stop and a recharge at parity as far as time is concern in a very short time. Also, the placement and weight of the battery make exchanging them less likely. In addition a tesla plaid battery is 25 to 30k per battery! If that was not enough, it’s also noteworthy that how a battery has been taken care of directly effects the hp output. If using a level 3 supercharger, one can expect a power drop off of 10 percent in just a couple of years thus reducing performance.

Isn't NIO's business model changing battery packs?
The US Energy Administration's forecast for 2050 is 79% of new car sales will be ICE. Not a typo or mistake.

I hope so - we need an electric sports car that looks and goes like a Ferrari. I'm not anti-EV, but the lack of lust-worthy cars is a real problem.
