Okay, I just watched the Shmee video, and some of you are just out of your minds. This thing is absolutely stunning. Just thinking about the two biggest criticisms on this forum lately … Ferrari should use a carbon fiber monocoque like McLaren … check! Ferrari should do a mid engine NA V12 … check! I mean … cmon! Sadly I’m going to have to call my dealer in the morning to turn down my allocation because it’s .01 slower than the 296 100-200 time and that’s just ridiculous … how embarrassed would I be driving this thing? Oh the horror … Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The front would look like a giant open mouth without something on the sides. The bigger the mouth, the more you need on the sides. But, with Manzoni, way too much is just enough so you see the result. I think the rear was copied from the 250 P5 first and then the front strakes added to offset the big mouth and try to tie into the back.
I actually wasn’t referring to the strakes. I was referring specifically to the carbon pieces below the headlights, which poke out like fangs.
Not my favorite car I've ever looked at but I think it looks great. Probably looks even better in person, too--some of these cars just don't photograph well, but look awesome when you are in person. Unfortunately I won't be buying one!
Buyers at this level more or less have to buy this car or give up the quest for the hyper and waste all the prior time and expense. I'm sure the car looks way better in person as almost all Ferraris. But the fact that these days they are always sold out before anyone knows what they look like has nothing to do with who designed it.
It looks good from that angle. Just like the LaF. Enzo looks best from rear 3/4 view from a low angle. When photographed from up high they don't look as good.
Same can be said for the high performance Tesla (don’t know the model name (plaid I think) but thats not why you buy a V12 limited edition non turbo/hybrid mid engine Ferrari. You buy it because it’s the last of its kind and there probably won’t be anymore, so if that’s what you have been dreaming of, and I have, you buy it and enjoy the hell out of it! The front part up until before the fuel caps looks barely decent. The back looks horrible imho. They need to fire manzoni now imho. Under his leadership laferrari was the only one he designed that I liked out of icona the sp1 and sp2 are beautiful but this one is a big fat NO. The roma doesn't even look good in my eyes especially its terrible unbalanced front fascia(same with the am vantage it isn't elegant at all). I want to like the 296 but the front looks neutered it even looks neutered compared to the 348. I miss the times when ferrari designed beautifully sculpted cars like the 250 GTO, 288 GTO, F40, P3, P4. This one is a discordant mess no cohesive lines. Also the hardtop roof looks awful, the line of the roof doesn't even connect properly to the a-pillar. What is with manzoni designing lines that doesn't flow cohesively? Is this the trend in architecture these days? Designing products that doesn't have symmetry? Sorry not sorry but it looks horrible. The few things that I liked about it is its silhouette, interior, modern pop-up headlights, V12 engine and is a non-hybrid car.
Did I say that I need to put myself as a designer? I am merely stating a fact that his design doesn't do it for most ferrari lovers and he needs to be replaced and get his hands off in designing messy looking ferrari cars
"MOST FERRARI LOVERS" Bold words your welcome to your opion but don't speak for other. 599 people are very happy and can't wait to take delivery. Game, Set. Match FERRARI.
Mr. Massini, Please allow me to thank you for your passion, grace and patience for taking the time you do in your posts. Your comments are always helpful and very much appreciated, even if that it not clear from the occasional keyboard warrior commenting in the threads.
I think the SP3 looks incredible and would buy one in a heartbeat if an allocation crossed my desk. The red one looks better to my eye - also because it doesn’t have the diamond cut wheels which is a trend that I’ll never warm up to.
One would assume that performance matters. Of course all these cars are ridiculously fast already, but if the "small V6" is quicker, one might be miffed. I don't know how Tesla is relevant, but I hear what you say. The problem is that they made a better and quicker version 9 years ago; the LaFerrari.
Sorry, but I disagree. A naturally aspirated mid engined V12, 1 of 599 … at a certain point the stats are irrelevant. This is that point. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Anyone sees a bit of Enzo around the B-pillar area? I like the profile of the car but not much about the details everywhere. Imo Laferrari still looks a lot better than this.
I really don't care if the car is .1 slower than the 296 or a full second slower. It's an NA V12 targa top. Hella cool. However I'm not entirely convinced on the overall looks, it appears very busy especially all the strakey bits. Maybe it's better in real life as some cars are. But from my angle, it looks a bit too much mansory and not enough 330 P3. And I'm really surprised at the weight. Given the similar value I'd prefer the Laferrari for now.
Maybe its just a case of trying to teach an old dog new tricks, but I prefer the SP3 over the LaFerrari because it doesn’t have the hybrid . I want the pure V12 experience in a rear mid-engine, open top Ferrari and don’t care about the extra 109 horsepower. I can’t find a real number on the difference in weight between the Ferrari Aperta and the SP3 but I will be pleased not to be lugging around an extra electric motor, it’s wiring, kers unit and a battery which will need constant replacement in the future at a reasonably high cost. It would be interesting to scale both of these cars and see the weight difference. It doesn’t seem logical that two cars built on the same carbon chassis one with an additional electric power unit would weigh the same. I’m guessing there is 100kg more weight in the car with the hybrid system. If anyone has an accurate weight comparison between the LaFerrari Aperta and the SP3 please enlighten us (no pun intended). Marcel would you venture an opinion on the weight difference? Anyways this old dog wants a raw V12 without an electric propulsion system and that’s what he’s getting, thank you Ferrari.
