Yep it’s seen a bit of action that’s for sure .It doesn’t say anywhere in the description whether it’s had an engine rebuild or not as part of the restoration and yet it looks pretty mint in the engine bay [emoji319]
I recon it is…Enthusiasts buy those type of cars..Not Lebbo Drug Dealers..Keep it short and sweet and to the point…A proper Enthusiast can smell a bull shjtter from mile away..
Agreed it’s a stories car but that price mustn’t be far off! I remember before I bought my car in 2017, going to look at a blue vetro 308 at Lloyd’s, it went for $220k and it was rough and needed fully restoring! If you got it for $200 surely it would be a reasonable buy!!
Brilliant buy at that money and looks beautiful in and out, bring it on [emoji16] (Blue and white stripes gold mags [emoji12]
There are two other vetro cars for sale in Australia as far as I’ve read, a blue one at over $300k I can’t recall where exactly and the red one at Brooklands for $275K
I think the gold wheels look really good!..Although I know Steve prefers Black Wheels on Rosso Corsa…
I've avoided wading into this debate but the rumours are getting a bit overdone now. It's a long way from a "serious stories car" Gary. It has a long and well known history in Australia, with 2 prominent FCA owners. It blew an engine at a track day in the 80's and the owner fitted a replacement wet sump engine. Later, it ran Targa Tas for some years and went off the road, with minor damage (panels and bent front control arms). Gerry D bought the car and gave it a nut & bolt restoration. Many NOS Ferrari parts, which are today unobtainable, went into it, along with a correct UK spec dry sump engine, with everything rebuilt. It's had the steel subframes replaced - 90% of glass cars suffer from rust in the door frames, A-pillars, front subframe, etc, etc. It's the first 308 I've seen that didn't have rust in the main chassis rails. You couldn't repeat the restoration exercise for less than $200K today. Try buying a used dry sump engine & gearbox for less than $100K. I helped assemble the car and it is correct down to the smallest detail. Yes, it has a non-matching engine but a $50K discount to a matching numbers car and the fact that it is the first RHD 308, makes it a fair proposition IMHO. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Bingo!! Cracking car, great post [emoji108](hopefully it doesn’t sell for at least 12 months [emoji51])
I’ve already been doing my homework on the coffin spoke mags that’ll go nicely [emoji12] https://www.ntmwheels.com/en/product/ls/
Thanks Ian. I was wondering what the fuss is about, apart from the non matching engine. Interestingly I thought mine didn't have the original engine. That's what the sales guy told me. Got a good discount because of it! Carl bought me a historic certificate from Tony Willis and it turns out it's the right engine. Go figure. No idea where the sales guy got that info from. Miles thought I was nutty when I asked him about it. Sig www.pless.com.au/mechanics.htm
Ok, I’ll bite.. FO, wankers, I love my car (tm Moretti, Gary and PP) Even if it is the lowest of the low being a LHD US car.. Image Unavailable, Please Login
