I agree that mentioned "air box door" might not look good in certain viewing angles, but I certainly like this rather innovative design concept.

It reminds me of the sidepods from F1 cars. Especially Ferrari F1 cars between 2017 - 2019 which had an air intake also on the top of the sidepod.

The air box door is also shaped like a wing and this reminds me of the full body wing found in center section of Ferrari F92A, the beautiful but flawed double floor F1 car from 1992.

If this name appears here in the forum, I know that criticism is guaranteed! NO MATTER what car Manzoni and his team would have presented.
Now I should actually have to defend the new car...

partly true imo but I think the need to have and show off the 'latest and greatest' plays a big part too

if the la ferrari successor has no stereo, a/c or any creature comforts it'll still sell out and be fought for

The F50 was billed as ugly and slow when it was released. Similar to some of the posts on this thread. Oh the irony!

That's what I mean when I said the Daytona is too squatted on the front wheels; I made a little change to make the Daytona sleeker

So was were TDF’s looks and handling and today its acclaimed as being beautiful snd worth almost double. You don’t have to look too far back to read the negative comments on the Competizione’s looks. I wonder how many of these negative armchair quarterbacks are Ferrari owners? Or in line to buy any of these spectacular cars? Anyway everyone is entitled to an opinion, but I don’t imagine they’ll be many approved buyers canceling their orders. I can’t wait to drive this outrageous Ferrari.

I struggled to find the difference but I found it in the end! Sleeker indeed but the plain profile view is still, as you very adequately say, too squatted on the front wheels. The whole mid section after the windshield would need to be reworked.

I did a quick photo design analysis of the last few cars including the new Daytona SP3. And some elements are not all that new ... There is a kind of “catamaran look” and this door solution with the strongly drawn-in flank.
My suggestion: Perhaps it would be better to have the inner element under the daytime running lights painted black to reinforce this “catamaran look”.

Good picture of the front with the fussy details and strakes not showing. The scoops in the doors are nicely done.

Good on Ferrari Design for trying something new and going wild with the details.

Everything doesn’t have to be a Roma.

I agree that they can and should have different types of designs. They do though need to meet a certain standard.

The car with the most “Catamaran-Look“ is the LaFerrari/Aperta. Flavio Manzoni by himself (or his team) has created this word for the design of the F12 Berlinetta. So you see, influence can come from everywhere but the relationship between car and boat design is not so new. Or is the LaFerrari a trimaran...or a catamaran with a foil?
