I'd have to disagree and say it is very relevant. Where is the incentive to buy a car that I have to plan out anything other than a local journey around charging points, and hope that one is available when I get there ? I think Tesla are a great car, but other than home charging (for those with driveways and/or garages) the infrastructure isn't there yet, nor likely to be for some time yet.

You bring up a great point that I completely missed. Most of the people on this board (probably) actually have room in their garage to store a vehicle. But, most of
Amercia has their garage filled to the brim. So, will they have to have large extension cords running from the outside wall to their plug in car? What if you have your 2 cars and your 2 kids cars out there? 4 plug in ports fired up with cords stretched all the way down the driveway?

What about security? A whole infrastructure set up at your home to keep someone from unplugging your car or plugging in their car?

How much will all that cost a homeowner? If I plug in 4 cars, can my electrical panel handle that load? Or, do I have to now install a completely new service at my house? Who pays for that?

Darn, now I have a whole host of questions!!

Because of my last post, it got me thinking. You heard it here first so the patent is MINE!!

The patent is embedded wire coils in a media that you roll over (or embedded in the concrete), installed in your driveway or garage or wherever you park your vehicle that wirelessly charges (like non contact wireless chargers for you phone) your battery powered vehicle. No plug in needed.

That solves a whole host of issues and I am now looking for people to invest in the manufacturing and installation of such items. :)

The people who can afford to buy the Ferrari over the Camaro will buy the Ferrari, just like they do now. Because everyone has a Camaro

Guess you didn’t know about the current record holder.

man it cracks me up how behind the curve folks are.

    i mean it’s a 2 year old record for Pete’s sake

    https://www.caranddriver.com/features/columns/a25423440/porsche-919-hybrid-evo-nurburgring-record/

What over a decade now in F1?

No I'm just getting to passing speed

It's the only way I can merge onto HWY 59 with all these blue haired old ladies in their Caddy V8s

You either aim for speed, or mad max style armored tanks, I45 is rougher than route irish

I already know what the counterpoint will be….

“But Paul, F1 and the 919 are not ‘street cars’ who cares if they use electric to beat records?”

the plaid hit it in 7:30

a full size 7 seater on a 10 year old platform.

Just use your head on what something that is a pure sports car a decade newer will accomplish.

good god folks are in denial.

glad the folks at Marenello aren’t.

Ferrari is a heritage manufacturer. Ferrari will always build less cars than the demand and give their best on every piece of it. Not only the engine, even if that is where Ferrari comes from, but on any part of the automobilistic masterpiece. The respect for that origin - an Italian engineering mastery from a little town in Italy, proven in mortal races from the very first minute and for decades, always setting the top of technical developments and working always on absolute modernity - It has become a legend. All this brings the heritage value to every single Cavallino Rampante car. You touch it, You hear it, you smell it - and You can drive it, too!
Your Question is absolutely justified, and here is the answer: Yes, for many women it's the same with Louis Vuitton bags - as for many men it's the Ferrari. On both sides You find those who deeply respect the heritage and live that magic difference. And You find those who buy, but don't really understand what...
Sooner or later these will go for a Tesla, a practical and fast car with the manufacturing appeal of a Dacia. And their wifes buy the LV-imitation..."it's the same, even BETTER...!"

Excuse my bad English, I hope You understand what I mean. Nobody has to worry - in a world, where millions cars are produced every year, there will always be the handful of people that will enjoy such delightful exotic masterpieces from Maranello. Also as a EV. It's the heritage, baby.

Indeed. My son has a Tesla. Great cars, poor charging network over here, even for a country of our size.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Just because i communicate more now on Ferrarichat instead of an FCA meet; it doesn’t mean I hate face to face conversations. On the contrary, I prefer in person interaction. I’m literally going to a Ferrari party tomorrow.

It just cracks me up that folks think it’s either/or, worse that Ferrari should no longer focus on speed.
Odd to me. As odd as a person that refuses to use the internet because of who knows why.

We’ll give it time, they are adding 600 next year. Based on how things are going I would argue that will increase (not decrease as some here seem to think.)

Absolutely, many of the younger kids (tomorrow's owners) prefer Grand Turismo 22 over Mad Max. Not saying anybody has to like it, but I don’t fool myself either on where the industry is headed.

I love the sound of ICE in the track and freeways, but lets me honest-we’ve all seen the ass hat rev in front of a place where the crowd all roll their eyes in mocking fashion.

this simply doesn’t happen with a Tron-mobile. I was in San Diego in front of a club a few months ago, some dude revved his sport exhaust Huracan in front in the velvet rope, everybody* groaned, especially the ladies…

A Porsche Taycan pulled up with the futuristic spaceship sound, and everybody’s eyes lit up.

    just is

either what I’m saying is true or not, try not to get your garments twisted if the crowd reaction upsets you.

    ****
Edit: I did see a passing teenager with the Fast and a Furious shirt did say “SiiiiiiCccCck” so I admit not “everybody.”

IMO - Some people JUST DON'T GET IT, and I suppose you can't blame them, after all, their Timex watch tells them the same time as any PATEK PHILIPPE, ROLEX, VACHERON, AP..., their MENSWEAREHOUSE suit covers them just as well as any suit from Brioni, Ermenegildo Zegna, Brunello Cucinelli..., their Walmart leather belt will do just as good a job at holding up their pants as any belt from, Dunhill, Cartier, Canali..., their DSW shoes should be just as comfortable as any shoes from, Crockett and Jones, Carmina, John Lobb..., their choice of bar Scotch has just as much alcohol as Glenmorangie, Glenfarclas, Lagavulin..., does their girlfriend/wife/signifigant others leather purse/wallet hold less items than the leather purse/wallet from Prada, Gucci, Cartier, Hermes... and YES, their Tesla is cheaper, goes faster, is more environmentally friendly and is QUIETER than any Ferrari, Bugatti, Lamborghini, McLaren, (almost any) Porsche..., BUT that's NOT why most people buy luxury items or exotic sports cars.
For cars, (Ferrari in this case for me) It's about the feeling you get when you're sitting in one, driving one, "owning" one, and the SOUND. (as a child you were obviously NOT one of those kids that attached playing cars to the forks of your bike just to hear the roar they created)
Lets face it, no one doubts that Tesla makes a great car, it's fast, it's cheaper (0-100 speed it's the best bang for your buck), filled with a miriad of tech friendly options and QUIET as well.
Tesla produced and sold almost 500,000 cars in 2020 and is slated to sell more the 750,000 cars in 2021, now lets look at Ferrari. Sinces its inception in 1947 (2022 marks Ferraris 75th Anniversary), Ferrari has produced (by 2019) just under 250,000 cars IN TOTAL!!. (rought calculation based on models and production), could they have made more???, absolutely they could have, but they didn't.
Owning one is for most, a goal to work toward, an achievement to reach, a dream to own/have one day. (just as the other examples for clothing, shoes and watches and Scotch are).
LIFE IS SHORT, THEN YOU DIE!, "most" people work hard everyday of their lives, strive to make a difference, provide for their families and enjoy the results of their hard work. I'm not saying that they wouldn't own a Tesla (or a few) as daily drivers but a Ferrari, for many people, is a goal.
Take a Ferrai into a parking lot filled with Teslas, how many people do you think will hang around getting selfies, texting their friends, sending photos of the Teslas?, next add a Tesla to a parking lot of Ferraris, do you think the reaction sceniaro would change (with crowds of people around the Tesla)? I don't think so.
I'm sure that "IF" the feeling of owning, driving, and looking at my Ferrari finally wears off, I find comfort in knowing that I could sell it and buy 3 maybe 4 Teslas. (almost 1 for every day of the week) again this is just my opinion.

You're right, and again, I'm not for mind control, I not saying anybody has to like it.

What boggles my mind though is folks seem to believe it's not already happening.

I mean, I had a lot of good memories visiting the Blockbuster video, you won't' catch me saying then that they'll be around forever, that this Netflix and online music thing is just a 'fad' that will go away.

    Well written.

Micheal, still enjoy reading your posts early experiences with the Mondial t. :) nice to hear from you again. I'm a kindred spirit. To me, it's not either/or - it's all of the above.

If governments ban ICE, I got my torch, pitchfork, sign, and tell me where to sign.

What I see a lot of is pure denial that electricity is here; it's not going anywhere, on the contrary, it's a future as Plastic.

Can you explain to me how a 0-60 time is affected by Blue/Red, Conservative/Liberal, Republican/Democrat?

Just me, but when I look at lap times, or vehicle specs, I don't check to see what political party the driver that set the time is?

Like does Lewis Hamilton's politics mean his car goes quicker/slower?

    Yes! Exactly! I prefer ICE!

The same way I prefer Live Music!

That doesn't mean I'll start a campaign to take down Spotify, Apple Music, or Tidal.

I mean, I love and prefer 'real' Coke. Does that mean I'll nash my teeth at Diet Coke?

As 'fake 'as the sound coming out of my speakers...

No, I'll tip my hat at the person that orders a Coke Zero Sugar, they're not stopping me from asking the waiter for regular Coke.
