So funny today I drive to Ford. I’d love a new GT500. Go in talk to our normal person as we buy trucks there. Get everything set but come outside and… so guy with a gt350 I parked by just starts on you know my gt350 with a whipple wound just kill your car for 200k less! My biggest reason don’t drive my cars much.

Just ignore idiotic comments from knuckle-draggers. They're not worth a nanosecond of your time.

I'm blessed with not caring much what other people think. (or is it a curse? It definitely doesn't help with attracting a mate.) Plus, Ferrari's are no big deal in Austin. It is rare that anyone says anything.

Not coming from money, and having worked at Kmart to attend college, when people say it must be nice, I just launch into talking about 40 hour work weeks while attending college with a full load and 40 hour work weeks launching my company while working 40+ at a tech job. Then the 80+ hour weeks for years after my company launched. I'd like to have had a normal person's 20's and 30's, but instead I have a nice car. Then they wish they hadn't said anything....

Yes I love the “must be nice” comments. I usually just smile and nod but I lose my patience when they say doctors are overpaid. Years of school, thousands in loans, 80+++ hour work weeks as a resident, 3am ER phone calls, every other patient wants to sue your butt for a cloudy day. I can say I feel totally ok about my F8. I will never say I deserve one but I dang sure have earned it.

My experience here on FChat has taught me that the overwhelming majority of owners are people who’ve worked hard to enjoy the fruits of their labors and sacrifices. You were willing to do what others weren’t. That simple. People, in general, suck. Car guys, at least on here, are mostly gracious.

Just make sure to take time to enjoy life away from the job … and enjoy the crap out of your no-doubt hard earned Ferrari!

Where do you see them in ATX? Hardly ever see an Fcar in central Austin. Very much stealth wealth...except when discussing the size of your ranch.

Having grown up in Austin, seeing any exotic was a big deal when I was younger. We’d stop to check out the Lotus Espírit at the exotic car dealer across from central market. That was before it turned into the Lambo dealer. It’s still not as common as the other large Texas cities, but no longer a surprise to see them. Although now as an owner, I know where to look!

Please drive your car. A clown like that is no reason not to. Invite him out to a real race track and show you what he can do. I promise you that he won't take you up on it.

Whenever I get these comments I just respond with “and I’m still the one driving the ferrari” as I walk off or get in my car to drive away. Clowns like that dude don’t get it, but that’s fine. Takes all kinds right?

I wouldn't be the least offended by the comment he made. He has no idea. Look for him on Youtube under "Cars and Coffee Fails."

Not to jack the thread, but had a wonderful interaction at the pump yesterday. SUV follows me into the gas bay area and pulls up next to me with the Pista. I can tell before they roll the windows down that they (ostensibly, hub and wife) want to engage me. They see I am amenable and ask if they can look at the car. "Sure," I reply. Then they ask if they can take some pictures. "Of course," I say. Then they ask if their son - probably around 6 y/o - can pose with the car. "Of course," again. Then, I suggest he have his picture taken in the driver's seat. As the father tells me his son made him follow me for a better look-see, the boy jumps out of the car and awaits. Briefly, I enter the Pista and turn on the ignition to lower the window for the picture. I exit, and the kid jumps in as his mom tells him to be careful and for him not to touch anything. As the engine was not running, I told them it was entirely "OK" to touch. They were all so excited - and as kind and respectful as could be. They got all the pictures and were gracious. The kid was just beaming and we all agreed that our days were made by the moment.

Sometimes when someone begins with this premise- my car can do what your car does for so much less- I will ask what other investing advice they have. Somewhere in the process of giving the advice they will realize they are going home in a Nissan and I am going home in a Ferrari [emoji4]

maybe im being paranoid but i just never do much to agitate or disagree with folks who have anything negative to say while im driving my 911/458.

in today's time u never know what and why some folks do and say what they say. i had one person yell at me at a stop light for driving too fast and reckless. going 60 in 35 but no cars around but our cars with the noise and exotic looks capture eye balls. No one says a thing when i drive my mazda cx5 at same speed.

i just smile at them - kill them w kindness.

if someone ever said to me in a confrontational or negative tone - "your car is ____ " i would say "u might be right or im just renting it."

not worth my energy to engage - they already think im a rich ___

i also dont look around at stop signs or lights in case i get the eye contact i dont want
