In the UK the 911 GT3 is about £20k more expensive than the Cayman GT4 RS.

Yes, but add in the Weissach package, which 100% of buyers will, and the magnesium wheels and the delta is all but gone. I suspect you will see quite a few $200k configurations in the US. Insane for a Cayman but this will be a “one in a generation” type of car.

As a die hard three pedal guy, I can honestly say I’d take the RS and give up that third pedal. And the extra $80k.

My final spec with AF pack comes to about 500K CAD or 400K USD. I think the 296 is a real bargain considering the current market and the front end with AF CF piece looks quite nice.

Anyone ask what is the warrantee of the Hybrid battery ? Car still only 3 years ?

We all know how they have changed the 7 year service. Pre Feb 2019 all cars have their oil changed and after Feb 2019 the computer tells you.

    A nicely spec'd 296 amounts to $450K CAD. A real bargain?

I'm with ya. I don't really care for it either. It definitely has some odd ball / bloated styling cues.

When you compare it to the F8 styling, or especially their recent one-off BR20, it really shows how lacking in sex appeal and aggressiveness the lines of the 296 are.

$350 k you will be light in some options. No special paint, and limited CF.

i so want to like the 296 but the styling is so BLAH - once i saw it i called the dealer asap and got one of the last f8 spiders - which by the way will be cheaper too - bonus!!

I think this car will be more fun than my previous V8s, I guess we will see. The AF pack comparatively is a decent deal since it includes a nice load of CF options in addition to the shocks change.

Yes but to be honest, better off having it done after it is in you possession. They charged me the same amount for painting the air intake splitters as they would have charged me for the CF splitters. I ended up painting my entire car's black plastic trims for what I would have been charged for the engine bay CF.

The aesthetics of the 296 is sufficiently appealing that in the event it is a compelling performer, it would not discourage a purchase. However, its appearance is not irresistibly stunning to compel a purchase if the driving dynamics are not stellar.

If the 296 was the new corvette we would think it was gorgeous. As the F8 replacement, not so much.

Such an interesting comment. I don't mean that ironically. I'm actually thinking over the nuance. Is the implication that you see corvette styling cues in the 296?

No resembance to the Corvette in any way. The 296 is more refined, elegant with smooth lines. It is understated in the design aesthetic while the Corvette is attempting to exude a race oriented approach, which is fussy with a multitude of angles and shapes and vents. The modern Corvette design approach will never resemble the simplistic, elegant look of the 296.

Not exactly. The 296 looks like I would have envisioned the new version of the corvette to look. I am not slamming it, it looks just like a concept vette IMO.

Image Unavailable, Please Login Ferrari of Naples revealed the new 296 GTB this evening. The lighting was poor so I apologize about the quality of the pics.
I’m still undecided. Local rep said it may be another year before the Spider will go into production. Couldn’t tell much about the interior due to the lighting.
Asked my wife her opinion about the car vs the F8 (she could care less). She liked the front and side view of tbe 296 but preferred the rear of the F8

I'm sorry but the design and stitching in these seats are boring. The red piping is nice but the rest of it looks like from a Kia. Sorry, just being honest.

The mayor- I agree. I’ve always thought the standard seats in Ferraris look a little ghey. That’s why I ordered mine with the carbon fiber seats.

Scott- was in Orlando yes. Ran in with only about 15 minutes of time to see it then had to jet out.
