    Hello Everyone!
    2008 430 F1 transmission, 14,000mi
Vehicle when HOT will not shift into Reverse. All forward gears work fine!
If vehicle driven then parked overnight, Reverse works.
Anyone have this happen before? If so, what was fix?
Dealer has adjusted pis point and checked a few other things? No definitive answer at this time...
Thanks in advance for any knowledge on what could be causing the issue.

Do you have any diag tools

If not going to be hard to let you know

Could be a bad sensor, bad accumulator, loose actuator screws etc

With a diag tool we can narrow it down

Also ..let us know pump cycle times and duration upon door open , just key on, engine running and shifting gears (how many before cycle) ..this will help point in the right direction

It can also be a leaking solenoid or worn clutch but with that mileage i would doubt it

    Hey flash32,
Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately I don’t have any tools.
I pick car up tomorrow and will run these ideas by the dealer to make sure they have been checked.
Thanks again for your time and info
Will post new developments when available.

    Hey Mike32,
    Thanks for the input!
Going to take car to different shop for second opinion. Was told today to drive it and see if gets worse... dealer wants to take out F1 and send to GTE for evaluation. Other dealer has list of things they want to check first, then consult GTE if needed.
This morning after ride home from dealer, all was working fine...usually the way it works.

Start simple BUT that requires diag tools. But, I would start simple. Most people put the PIS too tight thinking it helps engagement BUT it hurts overall and can stop shifting to R. System pressure. Sensor readings. The list is long. You need a pro that know the system well.

Buy a launch x431 or similar scanner, you can scan it when problem occurs, by the time you have been to dealer it will pay for itself.

I would second this! Having a launch saved me well over 10k+ at dealers. A note on the F1 sensors in the actuator... it may be just because I am looking for it, but seems more and more cars are experiencing failures with these due to age, heat cycles, etc.

Are you switching from 1st to reverse, or neutral to reverse?
