I think the egos on Fchat are bigger than the ones in F1!

It definitely seems like it. I understand why FIA has chosen a rotating set of stewards, but that gives the inconsistency we are seeing. Why not have FIA appoint 2 permanent stewards +1 backup, and the teams/drivers appoint 2 permanent stewards + 1 backup. They will travel to all the races and hopefully with permanent stewards, there will be more consistency in their decision making.

Sounds great....but Masi is against permanent stewards. He feels that there might be a bias towards their findings in a positive way.

I say, put most of the stewards, or those that can join, on a "zoom" meeting for the FP, quali, and the race and get a consensus of the voting.

One of the boys in the Aussie section just made a profound statement which explains this season :

They don't normally make sense in that part of fchat but this sure rings true :p :p

Respectfully disagree. Result would be closer to Nascar.
The F1 radio comm makes it a team sport with all the big teams having deep benches monitoring comm and data to the driver. Nascar drivers dont even know how many ounces of fuel they have left in their tank. (They refuel during pit stops) Watching Nascar 'leaders' run out of fuel at the end of long stint, I find amusing. Nascar does not have (allow?) the sophisticated telemetry (keeping costs lower) to monitor like F1 does. On the other hand, Nascar maintains 43 cars in the Series and a significant number of races result in 5-10 drivers within 5-10 seconds of the winner.
The amount of verbal and screen data that all the F1 drivers have to absorb and interpret is astounding. When the broadcast plays one of the drivers essentially telling his pit chief to "leave me alone right now" - I get it - the driver is really, busy.
If maFIA keeps the Sprint 'race', then I would support no radio (only from fia), only a chalkboard and a mandatory fuel stop with one (single not four) tire switch (Pirelli will hate 'wasting' tires on Sprint). That would make it interesting. kind of.

Just wanted to step in here again and say I'm getting my couch seatbelt tight because this is going to be one wild weekend. Can't wait to see what happens in the race and the discussions to follow in here. Enjoy everyone!

Artificially creating the situations where ½ the field runs off the rear bumper of the leader is not good racing........Come to think of it, it was 2003 the last time NASCRAP had good racing.............

Cars were far more dangerous back then.

Gravel traps can be the only solution for tidying up today's carefree run-off zones !

Seat belts fastened for tomorrow! I thought it was hilarious how Lando said he was nervous for tomorrow and thinks he would just hang back and watch at the start and the first few laps.

Max said right after the race he wants to end his career with Red Bull.
Exactly what Michael said in 1994 after his first title with Benetton.

I hope he stays with RB or wherever else will take him. Ferrari has a great driver team and chemistry. All they need is a car equal to their talent.

Bringing max to Ferrari (presumably alongside leclerc) will be chaos. I’d love max there but in their current car a waste of talent

No i was thinking about leclerc replacement.
Charles didn't beat Sainz, even if he had some bad luck.
As a reminder the teenager Max was already a better driver than Sainz in 2015..

I would not swap Leclerc out for Verstappen. I’m far more interested in seeing if the 2022 Ferrari is any good. In equal cars, I believe Leclerc vs Verstappen would yield a season like the one we just saw. I’m not about to write Leclerc off after one inferior season driving the third best car.

You are right but I’m disappointed by him.
This not fair but I have the feeling he’s lacking something but not the intrinsèque speed.
    Commitment ?
