Yup. Toto is in time out. BIG Daddy put him there for embarrassing the family. Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
While I'd lto see that happen because I just don't like Mercedes or Lewis... Id rather see them continually get beaten. Also regarding the constant winning and predetermined sport... It seems like f1 has gone through this for the last 2 decades... First Ferrari... Then red bull... Now Mercedes. A few years in-between were exciting racing from what I recall.
Mercedes made the correct decision to withdraw the appeal despite their very legitimate claim to one. Even if they won the appeal (which would have been unprecedented) they would always come off looking as the bad guys. Sometimes in life being right is not enough. That said you can be sure that some serious talks were done between Mercedes and the FIA in the past few days. As for not attending the FIA prizegiving I think that gesture is not a form of poor sportsmanship or being a bad looser but rather a statement. Being a poor looser is when you get beat fair and square and act out in spite of it. When the rules are changed or even applied in a controversial and unprecedented manner at the last possible moment, then one is fair to believe that the results that are being celebrated at the gala are not the product of a fair contest. I will stress as strongly as possible that I hold this opinion equally whether it was Red Bull or Mercedes. This is not about WHO won but HOW it was won. In this controversy you see a lot of people justifying their driver preferences by pointing to past injustices to validate what happened on Sunday. I personally have discussed this endlessly with many friends in the racing world. Some of them are incredibly experienced and accomplished as both competitors and officials. The overwhelming feeling is that even 'if' Masi had the authority to do what he did under the rules, that he showed incredibly poor judgement to ignore well established options (of which he had many) in favor of creating something new that had the potential to be controversial.
If they truly believe it was a farce, they should surrender their WCC points. Who wants to be Champion of a farce?
I think this will look very bad for Lewis, I’m not surprised about Toto. He should take the high road and congratulate his rival. By listening to all this “everyone is against you” rubbish, and veiled claims of racism, he has become bitter and yes looks unsportsmanlike. He needs to surround himself with people that motivate him through positivity. The type of messaging he’s buying into will become a crutch, not a motivator. This is true in racing or life. He has plenty of talent to win and be a good example of the sport, and not look like a sore loser. There will be a lot more boo’s in his future if he doesn’t turn this around now.
I was going to say this as well, threaten to take their millions and the constructors title away, they would be there in a heartbeat.
Listening to Toto Wolff lecture us about integrity and values is truly laughable. You couldn’t invent more hypocrisy!!
Posted in another thread but hey...Withdraw appeal but don't attend the awards night. https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/hamilton-wolff-to-miss-fia-prize-giving-gala/6885858/
I cannot believe that man actually put out this video. What an embarrassment to himself and to Mercedes. The only way to make it look more disingenuous and melodramatic, is if it had violin music playing in the background. What a pus*y. Seriously Toto, get over yourself. I can’t believe MBZ doesn’t sack him. Can you imagine Neubauer, or Haubt behaving like this in public?
Toto might be more of an influence on LH than vice versa. Both Toto's and his wife's statements are highly irresponsible.
The best part is after this he said "we are not sore losers" (but we won't come to the ceremony because we're butthurt)
The news 'cycle' for this is over lol!! So 2 people dont show up. World turns. New season is coming and new cars. Almost a nice reset. The FIA can simulate all this and rewrite rules. Nothing about this will change with or without certain people attending. Politics. Nothing new in F1.
Personally I agree with everything Toto said in the video. He is factually accurate, expresses his feelings, and in no way insinuates collusion or a conspiracy against his team. I think that he is well within his right to feel hard done by what took place on Sunday. I believe that lots of people here have a real hard time separating their personal preferences from facts and that it clouds their objective judgement. Then again this is human nature so if you want to hate on Toto for what he said, how he is dressed, or who he resembles I'm not here to discourage you. Just know that you look pretty silly in the eyes of those who really understand the sport. Again I cannot repeat this enough. My opinions would hold equally if Red Bull and Horner were making it. This has nothing to do with preferring one team over another but of what is correct.
He has enough experience to know much of what he and his wife said will be a dog whistle to the 'traumatized' LH fans and poison public opinion in general. He should know better. Pathetic, irresponsible, and unsporting.
People have a right to express their feelings. Certainly those with deep knowledge of F1 who actually work in it. Again the world is moving on. We have a new season coming. What the FIA do with their self made mess will be interesting. If they make any meaningful adjustment at all.
I can't recall a team that won the wdc, and both runners up to not show up. Ever. So no, it's not "nothing new". If its this unimportant to them, take away their wcc. Take away their wcc earnings. **** Mercedes as a company.
Russell is a spineless little **** that's got his head so far up totos ass he knows what his next meal taste like
Reading more, it says Masa has the prerogative to end pace car whenever he wants. Is this correct? If so, no 'rules' were broken. That said more context/clarification on the exact scope of those powers. Otherwise, the head has the power to clearly manipulate races like this.
