I give him credit for being an above average driver who has managed to (mostly) not **** up a free lunch. He's been a genius at marketing and career management.

I'm pretty sure Russell will get the same equipment. It will be epic seeing the two MB drivers steal each other points away in a battle with Max.

That said I do expect team orders in favor of Lewis.

That Mercedes team struggled for the first couple of years, but was improved with input from Schumacher and Rosberg. By the time Lulu arrived, they were primed and ready. Much like when Button arrived at Brawn GP at precisely the right moment.

I said that because didnt Bottas say that the other chassis was different than his in an interview?

No way Hamilton quits. He’s the most self centered glory hound out there. He cannot survive without the lime light that gives him a public forum to push his political agenda. He also wants Michaels title record more than anything on this earth, you can be sure of that.

I haven't heard that. Not saying it isn't true, but just didn't come across that. And the time Russell did drive Bottas' car, he was no slouch with it.

I do believe Bottas is highly inconsistent. Blindingly fast on some days and tracks and a midfielder at most others.

He wants it, but I wonder if he's willing to risk damage to his "brand" with another unsuccessful season to chase it. He just might be pondering it's better to walk away now promoting a narrative of "he was robbed."

Hmmmm, the “ultimate victim” routine. I never considered that but it sure fits his narrative.

Autosport.com is already speculating about this. I think lulu’s “people” are floating this stuff so people will beg him not to quit.;)

So why is McLaren wasting time putting Pato in the car then?

Additionally, if F1 wants additional fans, viewers, and $$$, bringing in IndyCar drivers should accomplish that.

Please don't tell me the only pool to pick from is the F series.

Damn good question....z'got me wonderin' too......

In it's 25 year existence, IndyCar hasn't afforded one driver to F1, as did USAC and CART. Doesn't that make you wonder why?
What "additional" fans can F1 get from an American pool of very few IndyCar fans?
    $$$? Can't answer that either.

I ain't tellin you that, but, IndyCar isn't a great source.

    :)

I may be wrong, but the safest route to F1 is through the junior series in national championships in Europe, followed by international F3, and hopefully F2.

It's in that pool that F1 teams and sponsors look for new talents. They don't look much in IndyCars or IndyLights in search of new drivers.

As chassis are homologated at the start of the season and carry an independently verifiable security device to ensure no tampering or alterations, your statement makes no logical sense. What’s your proof other than requoting random statements in the hope they are true (otherwise known as confirmation bias).

Components can't be updated/changed? (Many consider a "rolling chassis" (components included less drivetrain) as "the chassis" while others mean just the tub itself.)
Or are is it just the monocoque (tub) that can't?

Everyone knows Stroll is the only logical choice to replace Ham.

Russell, a "a backmarker driver"??? Am I in a parallel universe?
We, and Merc, already know that's not so. 'Why Merc called/are calling upon him in the first place.
Just because he's been anchored by the backmarker Williams doesn't make him so. This is why there's a WDC and a WCC.
I don't believe a Mazepin or a Giovinazi type would provide the results the Mercs are worth.
Bias (or is it anti-bias?) rears it's ugly head once again... ;)
