Agreed, and Lewis is Vettel's equal in this regard. Both jockeys who are only as good as their horse.

That's true for many of these guys. Russell can't do anything beyond Mr. Saturday in a Williams nor can Alonso do much greatness in an Alpine. Max outside of the RB or a MB wouldn't be WDC.

How good Lewis or Max really were this year can be seen by how much they left their codrivers and the rest of the field behind.

    Just wait. :D

Legit, though. They've had the same career, other than Vettel beating all his teammates and Lewis never having the balls to leave Merc.

Admittedly I don't race in F- 1 - but I don't think you can "throw a blue flag" if there was not a Green flag before it.... you would be under the yellow flag..... Anything else would send up a red flag.

I think Hamilton is getting slagged for really no reason. He is a very good driver. and If you remember he came it to Mclaren before Mercedes - and won a world championship then ... and in his first year almost won... he was racing against Alonso - who raced dirty.. remember the long pit stop so that Hamilton could not get ahead of him?

Oh, please. Alonso was done wrong all year and finally stuck up for himself. The Greatest Driver of All Time parked his own self off of pit road and cost himself the championship. A lot of revisionist history here!

Did you get a transmission blackout that day ?

Do you actually remember what started the long pit stop incident ?

Does "Go ****ing swivel" ring any bells ?

Yep I thought he was respectable as well right until that Hungary pit stop and all the lobbying by his dad which ultimately played right in the hands of Mosley and the stewards - Alonso could well have been WDC minus that.

So on behalf of the tifosi, thank you Lewis.

Respect to Alonso for driving in a team who is vocally against you for so many races.

    Best,
    Sammy

Ive been thinking about all the threads in play here. Its always about lulu. But what can we do if the tifosi don't even want to talk about their own team on their own forum ?

I rarely see any comment about the Scuderia, Leclerc and Sainz Jr here, like if they didn't exist.

Everything is focused on Hamilton, which is strange. I doubt if Max taking over the crown will even change that.

He doesn't have a haircut that attract comments, his dressing code is alright, and there is no doubt about his sexuality.

It's only if he start winning regularly and without opposition that folks will get grumpy, I guess. :p

Yep. Alonso was made public enemy number 1 by the Brits that day. Total shambles as it was Lewis that instigated it all.

At the time Mclaren had a rule in place where they had drivers lead in quali on alternating weekends. Ham was leading the championship at this point and it was Alonso's turn to lead. Hamilton quickly jumped him though and despite Ron Dennis ordering Lewis to let Alonso by multiple times, Lewis disobeyed. Alonso brilliantly retaliated by holding up Lewis in the pit, ensuring that Lewis couldn't get his lap on lower fuel in. Just after the quali Lewis told Ron Dennis to ''go swivel'' (for non brits, google what it means in British English). The british press had all the information but was more keen on letting Alonso be the villain than their darling. Lewis always played the innocent party after that.

You should have been here while Alonso was winning in the Renault and then <oh shock!> drive for Ferrari. It's always about Fernando. Every problem or confrontation or political or entitled thing about F1 is about ....

    Back to the original post:
Article 1.1.1 of the 2021 FIA International Sporting Code makes clear that the regulations are to be enforced ‘based on the fundamental principles of safety and sporting fairness’. Safety and sporting fairness.

With one lap remaining and the track clear to resume racing, the safety car was called in. It seemed like letting just the lapped cars between Lewis in Max was the safe and fair call to me. Had there been two laps remaining, there would have been time to let the rest of the lapped cars through. There have been plenty of F1 races that have been won/lost on the last lap, so nothing new here....why else would you watch the races to the very end?...we're motor racing.

If its safe to do so, next race if Max has the lead, Masi should call a VSC, order Max to give up the lead so Hamilton could have a chance to pass him. We want to see racing.
