I looked, but could not find a discussion on Miami that answered these questions.... A single female friend wants to spend the week on vacation, but does not know the city. She wants to laze on the beach most of the time, and any interesting events in that time period would be appreciated. Hotel recs, and restaurants...stuff like that. TIA!!! I told her: "Just roll in, and look for WILLIAMH!"...and describing who he is, she thought that sounded good.....
Important questions, what's she looking to do? Does she want to stay on the beach relaxing and not be bothered? Or does she want to go somewhere that's "happening"? Does she want to go out partying at night, or calm walking around an area that's more of a family atmosphere?
I am single and have frequent dates in Miami…Not really a place to find out where to go at the last minute.I would say if she likes sand and not be bothered by the many cabana boys looking for a free lunch, consider Hollywood beach. It’s more family oriented. It has a board walk and several small restaurants along the walk. William H, we have not heard from him in a while at the FGT Forum but he does know Miami well. Weather has been in the 80s and perfect beach and cruising weather.
It really depends on her budget and what kind of nightlife she’s looking for. SoBe is most expensive but has the most to do - tons of restaurants and nightlife (stay anywhere between fifth and seventeenth). Hollywood Beach doesn’t really have a club atmosphere but has plenty of mom and pop causal restaurants and bars along the broadwalk. Fort Lauderdale beach is somewhere in between when it comes to nightlife and cost.
I think her plans have been scuttled by a Positive COVID result, she's not going anywhere!! But thanks so much!! Love to all....
Too bad, I'm from Key West but spent a few days on Miami Beach last week. I stayed at the Confidante Hotel on 40th and Collins beachside. I liked it, Hyatt property, small but cool art deco style rooms with soundproof windows, mine had a decent balcony. Nice pool area and lounge chairs and on the boardwalk. Far enough from SoBe to be quieter, close enough for a quick bike ride or short Uber to the mayhem.
