Elliot - you`ll highly welcome for a ride flat out on the Autobahn ...or at the Nürburgring (but there I will driving ).
Walter, You are too, too kind and I would be thrilled to get a ride with you at Nurburgring. A very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year to you and all you love. Elliot
He's a bit disappointed. Thinks its too expensive for what it is. Too much of a GT / not raw enough. Wants to see the electric version.
Most reviews are similar complaints. Too expensive and too soft. Its much better looking than a Porsche tts and less expensive than f8 so should be a sweet spot for it but apparently not. Guess hurracan evo rwd is true competitor. Wish c8 looked like this though.
Its nonsens that he compares the car with the V10 Lamborghini. The Ferrari 296 would be the much better contender. Yes, its expensive - but would anybody complain about that when it comes to the Ferrari...clearly NO! I agree with him about the build quality of the MC20 that can definitely be impoved.
Well you ignore the problem. Maserati has to be better than Ferrari because Ferrari does have the brand name. You can't equally price them. And in addition, we know the depreciation of Maserati (and others) is far less than Ferrari. If you want to compete with Ferrari you have to beat them in every category. One thing that shocks me is the lack of storage space for a car that seems to want to be more of a GT. The Alfa 4c had a larger trunk and that was pure sports car. I think this car is really attractive and different and I love their V6 engine. The interior seems a bit bland and it seems too impractical. At the price of a 911 I think it would really have had a great shot. I for one am not a big fan of the exposed "injection molded" CF tub. I know others use it but the Alfa 4c had a hand laid up tub which looks amazing. I think this hurts the price value. At $250K to start with, it seems like its not going to be much of a seller. But maybe that was the point. Maybe it was just to make a splash for the brand rather than really trying to take on Lamborghini, McLaren and Ferrari in the segment permanently.
Really. I fail to understand most of these comments/commentators. MC20 is a GT. It is an incredibly elegant, understated, very fast and comfortable GT. Period. Just like the Bora was. It represents Maserati's age old road car philosophy! Want a race car for the street---this is NOT it! Wait for the hard core Nurburgring track-record breaking GT3 version or buy one of the many many Ferrari/Lambo/McLaren etc alternatives out there! Don't worry too much about things you find difficult to understand and/or dislike. She is already sold out through the end of 2023!
I'm v happy its sold out bc I want it to succeed along w company but initial hype buying doesn't necessarily equate to long term. Its 50k too expensive.
Au contraire! It is 50k too cheap! Think Bora vs 365 GTB/4 I have played w/them all. That's why I own a Bora & a K. Put your money where where your mouth is! Over & out.
I do not understand how you can feel and be impressed by a vehicle on the highway? You have to drive the track vehicle or the roads in the mountains and in this way you can form an opinion with the vehicle. Even if you drive on a highway with a Ferrari f8 on a highway with closed windows you will not feel that the vehicle produces drama
You tell me not to compare the MC20 with a Ferrari....and you compare the Maserati with the lesser positioned 4C Alfa. We all know now, that you desperately love the 4C. But thats not the point here!
You need to take off he rose colored glasses. Ferrari's may not be the best cars but they have the best brand. Ferrari can get away with a lot of issues that others can't. To beat Ferrari you have to be better than them, not just "an equal". That's just plain fact. If you can't accept that then there's no point in discussing further. Anyone who is looking at an MC20 has to have already looked at a Ferrari or Mac or Lambo FIRST and find something about the MC20 more attractive or easier to get or more exclusive. To say that people will ignore price / value is not logical. If that was the case Maserati should offer each at $1M and probably make more money. But they can't. And I'm not sure they can with a base model that starts at $250K without some of the nicer options most will want. I was hoping this car would be Maserati getting back seriously into the 2 seat sports car game again. But unfortunately it seems its more like a publicity stunt to "relaunch the brand" rather than a permanent business plan. Unlike what McLaren did with the MP4-12C where they wanted to establish themselves as a rival to Ferrari, it seems Maserati just wants to make a splash and sell them to rich brand loyalists who want something different than the F8 they already have in the garage.
Ok let’s get this straight, outside of the MC12, Maserati has NEVER built a sports car for the road. They built Grand Touring cars that were not about the raw performance of Ferrari or the over the top look at me styling of Lamborghini. Their cars are more of a Gentleman’s car that had slightly less performance that were focused on refinement whose styling was understated and elegant. In that tradition the MC20 fits perfectly.
Exactly the point why people think its too expensive. Its not a great GT and its not really a sports car. Exactly what reviewers have been saying. They're not sure what it is but its expensive and beautiful. IMO the last sports car Ferrari has built for the mass market might be the 16M. Almost all of Ferrari's are in fact GT's such as the new 296 GT
Brilliant. So why waste your valuable time on a MASERATI MC20 board? Let us idiots, who actually understand EXACTLY what she is and love her for it, buy & enjoy the damned thing!
Because I love cars and have a brain. You should hear some of the things I say about Ferrari. This is TAME! And I'm not alone in that. This is a forum where we discuss cars we like, we don't like, and what we can do with them. If that doesn't appeal to you than just don't listen. So.... what did you think of Schee's review? You think he liked it? You think he was unfair? You disagree with what he said that he'd prefer an electric version over it? You disagree that he says its over priced for the market? If we can't discuss these things than why bother discussing anything. Let's just turn F chat into a fan club.
Its really a 911 with exotic looks and 100k premium for that. Some will think its worth it and others not
I understand not liking the styling or engine of the MC20 but I don’t understand the over-priced critique of it. It’s a carbon monocoque, dihedral door, F1 tech inspired 630 HP car from a famed Italian builder. Base price (US) is $212k and there aren’t that many options to add. An F8 starts at $275k and most spec closer to $325k. A 296 is $320k base. A Turbo S is $207k base and good luck keeping it under $250k. A base Mac 570 is $200k. These cars are all expensive - the Maserati is on the lower end. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
