Are the o-rings #25 and #26 the ones that can fail and cause oil/water mixture?

Where are the water passages here?

Yes 25 and 26 are the ones.
Coolant flows around the outside of tubes 24 and 27 between o-rings 25 and 26 while oil flows through tubes 24 and 27.

Getting old tubes out is quite difficult, maybe less so if doing a rebuild. I did a homemade tool to use as a puller.

Yes can be hard to get them out especially if they’ve been there forever. I bought a kit like this https://www.amazon.com.au/WINMAX-TOOLS-AUTOMOTIVE-Internal-Extractor/dp/B017XDLDDY and needed to grind down one of the pullers so it would go deep enough into the rear tube to get a grip on it

Nice "kit". I had some similar bits but in any case they had to be modified to the the small. long hole you are working in.

If you decide to change them yourself, keep very good track of which part number goes in each position. Once they are out of the bag, it was basically impossible for me to tell visually which was which and it matters.

Schumi and Il Tifoso like this.

The tread above has a nice picture of a homemade tool similar to what I used.
