Hopefully mileage less than 20K but not firm depending on price / maintenance etc.
    Coupe or Volante.
Weirder the color and higher the spec the better. ;)
I'd have to give up my sweet 2018 Alfa Giulia Quadrofoglio but that doesn't have to be part of the deal.

    ^ Nice !!!
I think these are flying under the radar right now as far as value. The Gentleman's exotic. Not that I'm gentle ;)
Do you know if there is a big difference between the 6 speed 2014s and the 8 speed 2015+s ?
I'm debating whether the premium is justified.

Would love to hear your comparison of the Vanquish vs the FF. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them.

I had been looking for a 2015 for quite a while. Everyone I know that has had and/or driven both say that the ['15 ot newer] 8-speed really livens the car up.

Correct, 2015+ has newer transmission. I personally didn’t want to pay more for it and the 2014 suits me fine for a daily.
The NA V12 still sounds magnificent!

    Great question!
As far as styling and design is concerned, subjectively, I’ve always loved Aston Martins, which to me epitomize elegance. It took me a while to warm up to the wagon design of the FF. Initially, I didn’t like it at all but Ferrari has an inherent design talent where their car designs seem to grow on you. Now I actually appreciate its unique design, it’s different.
As far as the utility of the vehicles, the FF has far greater comfort and storage. The back seats can fit nearly any adult size and the rear storage can fit a ton more than an Aston. Great for longer trips or golf or Home Depot runs. The Aston back seats are tiny and can barely fit children.
Drivability- they both have their merits. The FF will be faster with more power, though handling is a bit heavy feeling more like a GT car. The Aston feels more sporty in its handling. The power is mediocre but remember you feel like James Bond in the Aston so it’s more of the gentleman’s car.
Sound in both is intoxicating. I did add hi flo cats and Novitec X pipe/exhaust to wake up the V12 in the FF for the high pitch F1 sound. The Aston V12 has more of a deeper tone growl but still so sexy.
    Tech - both suck lol.
Overall, the FF is a more utilitarian vehicle I can take most anywhere. The Aston is a great daily to work, understated yet elegant. Very different characters, both fantastic.

Thanks for the comparison. How would you compare the build quality and attention to detail on both?

    Quite different….
I’ve had 5 Aston’s in the past, loved them all but they are quirky, being hand built cars. One standout in the interior of an Aston Martin is the smell of their leather. It is very unique and has a prestigious scent to it. I love the interior seat designs as well. The tech again is a bit antiquated (speaking pre-Mercedes). Another outstanding component is their 7 layer paint. I’ve had a few in morning frost white, which is a beautiful pearlescent white.
The build quality does have some known deficits. I’ve had a couple Aston’s where the gas cap lid got stuck. Also have had “Emissions failure”. Swan door struts can go bad…
Ferrari interior in the FF is decent, not as special of a feeling as the Vanquish IMO. My rear seat entertainment screens aren’t playing movies (needs to be fixed). There is the known PTU that may fail on some. Ferrari paint quality is known to be hit or miss. Sticky buttons as usual…
They both have their quirky qualities but it doesn’t detract from their special experiences.

    Decisions decisions....

Yes the red wheel is somewhat garish and right there in front of you.
I would imagine an AM part swap would be exorbitant.

I dont need another utilitarian vehicle.
    Nor another sportscar.
    Something in between.
Aston Martin is like Goldilocks ;)

Thank you for all your insight.
    Looking back with 20/20 (2022 ?) I should have bought your 16M :(
    But not exactly Goldilocks.
Maybe Goldilocks's sister the stripper party girl.

The 16M wasa little OTT at the time, but it has aged well IMO.

The one at Festival belong to deBolle jewelers, IIRC

    Pics of the new Aston?
    I will look...

I swapped my steering wheel to the One-77 wheel… I think it cost around $2k off astonmartinbits.com.

Awwww the good ol’ 16M. I do miss that car.

I cannot compare it to a FF but I can to a 612. A few years ago I went and drove a 2015 Vanquish coupe as a potential replacement to my 612. I will start by saying that I was considering it because IMHO the Vanquish is the most beautiful car on earth. Unfortunately I found that beauty was only skin deep. I was not impressed at all with the interior of the car. The most noticeable thing is that you feel claustrophobic driving it as compared to the 612. The pillars on either side of the windshield make you feel very tight and enclosed. Also the interior was pretty boring as compared to my 612. Very plain and bland. For the price you would want something that really pops. Next the handling was very raw as compared to my 612, not refined at all. More like a track car, not a daily driver. Lastly the road noise level was quite high as compared to my 612. So it was a hard pass for me. It might be ok as an occasional driver but I dont see it as a daily driver.

Only decent Volante deal I’ve seen recently is the grey 2015 on eBay for $135k. I offered $130k and they declined, so I ended up with an FF. May be worth pursuing. Good luck
