After the BAT 430 MT spider sold for $ 360K all bets are off. its like 1988 all over again ...1990 style crash is heading our way ....despite all the calls of 'its different this time' etc

Don't you know? It's always "different this time"

I also get a kick out of the "360 manuals are rare" crowd. They make me laugh. Nothing could be further from the truth.

It's going to be a Deusy to watch, especially as interest rates rise. The increase will not be gradual this time. And all of the people who thought that they don't have to work. Just trade bitcoin, flip cars, art and houses! Prices will go up forever! Not to worry. It's what happens when too many people have no skin in the game and recklessly :)

The USA is such an insular market for this category of vehicle it bears no relevance to the rest of the World.

Huge bubble right now in America, it will be interesting to see how this develops.

Wow. Thanks. Mine has the same mileage. 351k, I would probably sell it for that..though I do love it.

There are plenty of worse cars selling for more, tbh. Even from the same era. 993 GT2 and TT S, hello?

Still, odd, as you can buy a perfectly good one from a dealer for less. The price of convenience.

People buying from these auction sites may never have gone to a dealer. That's economics, though, and a new market isn't necessarily a bubble. Otherwise people with Dinos, Daytonas and 250s would be wondering when their cars values would go pooph.

    But still, odd!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I find the lines of the standard car more attractive. Same for the 575 SA. Sure they are low volume specials but they just don't look as attractive to my eye.

My problem with the Barchetta are those darn roll bars, just removing those changes the look dramatically, for the better imo.

Inflation will also begin to effect the prices. Obviously.

A buyer may pay more but the value of cash changes.

Everything is going up in price.

The carbon fiber back seat is rare. Probably meant CF seat back but it got edited.

It's the POWER WINDOWS!! that swung it for me. As if every vaguely premium car sold in the US for the last 50 years has not had power windows.

More seriously, I looked through this dealer's inventory. It's all like this. Most of their cars are pretty vanilla, also. Does copywriting like this help them sell cars, is it part of their science? Do buyers like it?

The carbon seats and the red/Beige, red carpet and those seats are quite unique combination, to be fair. Seller probably meant the car itself though...

I don't think I've seen any other 550's in that very colour combination, with shields and those seats. So on that front, very rare!

Barchetta's are interesting example where market is going. They went up like everything else around 2014-2016. Since 2017 peak they have been coming down much more than just about any other Ferrari model. It's like at first market decided they must be valuable as they are semi rare at 457 made. As practically no one actually bought idea that they are 400-500k they have been in constant slide since about 2018. They are possibly largest looser in downward trend.

Another market trend seems to be wild prices in USA compared to Europe. Almost double $$$ in USA is not sustainable in long term. Otherwise ROW cars start to move in when they are 25 years old. This will level markets eventually.

1 would have to disagree. Barchetta is a special rare car. Its values have always paralleled 550 pricing but 2-2.5x more.
If you look at auction results aside from the recent right hand drive example, values slowly climbing.

I went to view this 2 days before auction ending, at the time was the only person who had viewed the car.

Looks like it's sold for £82,150 inc fees.

My findings below, most bits are expected for a car of the age and mileage but just thought I'd add them here for anyone else looking for a 550 as a comparison:

    • Numerous Henstead motors services - MOT station and garage, not a specialist from what I can see.
    • Original bill of sale and COC present.
    • Lots of money spent recently on remedial work.
    • NSF wing previously painted and not matched properly.
    • NS door paint wobbly/not straight.
    • Some rivets under bonnet padding are rusty/not attached.
    • Loose wing mirrors both sides.
    • Headlight seals both deteriorated.
    • Carpet clip missing.
    • Saggy sun visor leather.
    • Clicking drivers door.
    • Faded and fake gel shields stuck on.
    • Cracked wing mirror adjust button surround.
    • Brake NSF venting pipe needs replacing.
    • Corrosion on rear window surround.
    • Fuel flap button not working.
    • Corrosion around latch on underside of bonnet.
    • No sticky switches
    • No major dashboard leather issues
Reserve looked as though it was set at £77k.

Thanks, very helpful. I will be looking for a 550 but not until the autumn. In any case, this one wouldn't have been for me; thought the winning bid plus fees a bit punchy. Out of interest, did you happen to note the age of the tyres?

Agreed, I was expecting it to end around the 70 mark.

From memory, the rear tyres were plain Pilot Sports from mid-2018 (which was a surprise) and the fronts were Pilot Sport 4 from mid 2019.
