    Last day of work before Christmas I came back to Bambi to find a Noosa Council parking ticket attached for "incorrect parallel parking (facing wrong way)" - despite the fact that the car was parked with left hand wheels off the road, steering wheel towards the centre of the road - WTH? So I lodge a request to withdraw with Council and attach pic showing car correctly parked.

    Then I get a letter back, not addressing the direction of parking, but claiming the car was parked too far into the road to leave the legally required 3m clearance. I requested their evidence so please see pics attached:

    The measurement end of the tape shows the edge of the bitumen about 30mm short of the 3m mark BUT the other picture shows the other end of the tape a similar, or more, distance from the wheel.

    The street is a narrow slip road with no curb and channel, parallel to David Low Way where I have been parking for the past 5 years, on the recommendation of locals as it is one of the few streets around the office that is not limited to 2 hour parking.

    The fine is $103 but I am really cheesed by this as:
    a) they lied on the original ticket
    b) I believe I had left 3 metres (as an architect, I'm reasonable with estimating distance)
    c) a house was built a couple of doors down from my spot during the past year and there were no issues with concrete trucks etc sharing the road with Bambi. There is a yellow line on the opposite side of the road, not the side I park on.
    d) they have fudged the measurements in order to make the claim

    I have time to go to Court and can present cogently, I believe, BUT I don't want to waste time and money if it goes against me... what does the brains trust think?

    No, that is rubbish. Someone in SA ended up with a $40k bill trying to push that line.

    My question is really will the evidence stack up in court - I think it clearly shows I WAS lawfully parked, but looking for alternate opinions.

    FWIW I reckon you are parked too far onto the road, however I have OCD and am very particular about where I park. Despite GG photos. [emoji41]

    Yeah, just really tees me off... literally no where to park if they’re going to play this game. Will be like the rest of the staff having to run out every 2 hours to swap spots - what a bloody waste of time.
