No rational thinking is permitted here. You see to Mercedes fans they simply do what they do and should automatically win.

Ha! Classic and have to agree - I would be more than happy to take her out to Carl's Jr if Max is unwilling :) :)

I was at the gym yesterday, and in the sauna was having a conversation with a chap, about my age, who was watching the race with his son. And he told his son how the race was going to play out, and for some reason, it did play out that way.

We don't know what happened, who was involved, and why Hamilton decided to not push his loss.

I felt Hamilton should have given back the advantage when he cut the corner on lap one. For me the end was justification. But this is all what I love about F1. It is a chess match. If it is always predictable it is not as much fun.

The reason he gained an advantage was Max dive bumbed him and ran him off track, like he usually does. Max was the cause if that.

    Not even close to correct.

A pass is not a "dive bomb" if the person doing the overtaking can negotiate the turn, and stay on-track with zero contact ... which is exactly what Verstappen did, in lap one of Abu Dhabi.

Verstappen out-braked and passed Hamilton. Hamilton ... who was behind Verstappen, by this point ... went off-track, and gained a position by cheating. The stewards simply "looked the other way" ... again .

(it's quite obvious why ... the stewards needed to keep Hamilton in contention)

Exactly. Dive bombing is NOT illegal so long the overtaking driver makes the corner. Max did exactly as the rules prescribed. This isn't the first time I've read Ham supporters cry about Max overtaking doing a succesful dive bomb.

What I think they want is a regulation that says ''lewis is not to be overtaken, period''.

Illegal or not, he gave Lewis no choice but to go off track. He has to live with that decision.

Everything happened EXACTLY as i described it. Open your eyes, fanboy.

Verstappen out-braked Hamilton, negotiated the turn and stayed on-track with zero contact. Hamilton was behind, and went WAY off-track to gain a position.

The stewards, needing to keep Hamilton in contention, decided to "look the other way".

Look at the replay fanboy, and tell me how you think Hamilton was behind Max at the point he went off. Stop pretending to be Max cousin and look at what happened. Do you not see that Ham was along side him?

After successfully out-braking Hamilton, Max was ahead when Lewis drove off-track. Which means Lewis gained a position, by driving off-track.

Hamilton was out-braked, out-driven, and passed ... LEGALLY. He re-gained the lead, by driving WAY off-track.

What's so hard to understand? Are you really that blinded by your Hamilton-love?

I love that the same people who say Max should have backed out in Silverstone insist that Lewis shouldn't have backed out in Abu Dhabi, and that they say it with a straight face! :D

    @ktu

Lapped cars-->Masi COULD HAVE let ALL the lapped cars on lap 56 unlap themselves and we would have had the same results of Max overtaking Lewis but that didn't happen. Masi waited until lap 57.to only let the 5 cars between Lewis and Max unlap themselves and we still have the same outcome.

Max overtaking Lewis in T1--> Lewis left a gap and Max went for it and overtook Lewis on the apex. Max executed the overtake cleanly and stayed on track. Lewis gained the position by cutting the chicane.

Yes if the rules were done correctly there wouldn't be any contreversy.
Its possible to run someone off track and stay on track. Max has done it plenty times.

What's the controversy??? Whether it was done a lap earlier(lap56) or a lap later(lap57 with only 5 cars between Max and Lewis) the end result would be the same!!!

Didn't Max have to give the position back to Lewis when Lewis drove Max off track (2x) a race earlier???
