Likely to be the first and last time that ever happens in F1… unless it rains of course.

 

He can retire in glory now!!!

 

Surely they could make a new rule: To be awarded "Fastest Lap" the "Fastest Lap" must not be under Safety Car, Virtual Safety Car, or yellow flag conditions. Sure he doesn't get a point for being outside the top 10, but holy cow!

 

I'm sure that a lot of rules will be changed after the Spa farce.

 

Yep, they are circling the wagons at the FIA.
Jean Todt has ordered the F1 Commission to examine last weekend fiasco, which he called "embarassing".
The issues of race cancellation, postponment and ticket refund will be on the table, as well as the attribution of points.
The next meeting of the Commission is on Oct 5.

 

And back to normal service as Mazespin spins at zandvort… Truly the worst driver on the grid by a country mile.

 

I bet Gunther and Gene would have been really regretting this deal with this dubass and his dad.

2021's most scrutinized rookie was scrutinized for a reason. In 2022, he needs to show serious improvement if he ever hopes to be seen as more than a pay driver.

I don't know about that, i mean he's dead even on points with both Hamilton *AND* Verstappen right now!!!

 

Given that the Haas was not upgraded in any way shape or form all season, lets give him the benefit of the doubt. He's unlikely to ever become a superstar, granted. If Stroll can improve so can Mazepin.

 

Improve and still be utterly forgotten. Without money from family would you hire Stroll or Mazespin..........not at all. They have "careers" for 1 reason only. Beyond obvious.

 

Yep. Same goes for Zhou.

I'd be begging Ferrari for Illot or Alpine for Piastri.

 

Mazepin is so awesome, he got beat in the standings by a guy who ran two races!

Uralkali chairman Dmitry Mazepin threatened to terminate the company's sponsorship of the Haas F1 outfit in 2021 if the team didn't switch chassis between his son Nikita and Mick Schumacher.

Early last season, Mazepin claimed that his underperformance relative to Schumacher was due to him racing a heavier car than his teammate, one that he claimed left him as a "sitting duck" among the laggards at the tail end of the field.

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner would later confirm that there was a slight weight difference between Mazepin and Schumacher's year-old VF-21 cars "depending on the weight distribution". But the Italian insisted at the time that the disparity was minimal.

However, it has been revealed in an early preview of the latest 'Drive to Survive' docuseries by Netflix that will be released next week that tensions had ramped up between Haas and the Mazepin camp, with father and son believing that they were being given a raw deal by the US outfit.

"It’s the same car," Steiner told Nikita Mazepin. "As much as you believe it’s not, it’s the same car."

Unconvinced, the young Russian's father stepped in and vowed to put the pressure on Haas.

In a scene filmed at the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona, Dmitry Mazepin vents his frustration to his son's advisor Jesper Carlsen

"If it doesn’t change, I will send an official letter that we stop financing and stop racing," he warned.

"It will be a huge problem with the money and they will decide what to do because we will not keep this ‘let’s do, let’s do, let’s try, let’s try.’

"We already tried [for] three races and if we remove the Uralkali, we stop racing. Switch the cars. Everybody knows that someone has an advantage."

Carlsen duly informed Steiner of Mazepin's threat which he said was justified by his belief that "there's a difference between the cars".

Confronted with the Russian's warning, Steiner responds on camera and says: "I don’t want to go there on an interview."

Eventually, Nikita Mazepin received what he asked for, namely a lighter chassis that was supplied to him from the Belgian Grand Prix at Spa.

The young Russian subsequently claimed that the switch had "massively improved" his one-lap pace, although he only succeeded in outqualifying Schumacher once in the second half of the 2021 season.

Have the assets of Dimitri Mazepin and his family been frozen yet? Dmitri Mazepin, was present at the Kremlin on Thursday, where he was invited by Vladimir Putin. Mazepin was there with a large group of Russian businessmen to discuss what to do with the sanctions imposed by NATO. Now that Uralklai is off the car, what incentive is there to keep Mazepin in the car. Surely there is another rich guy with a kid who wants daddy to buy him an F! seat.

 

Now let's be fair, and take a look at how Mazepin did last year....

"Mazepin finished the season with five DNFs and one DNS after returning a positive COVID-19 test result at the season finale in Abu Dhabi, classifying 21st in the drivers’ championship."

Oops, 21st out of 20 drivers!
