https://drives.today/articles/439/sport-cars/2023-maserati-mc20/chris-rees.html New road test. The vehicle received excellent responses from him
That is disappointing to hear but not surprised. I want to order a spider when available but not feeling good based on all these comments. My dealer is “supposed” to get their first delivery soon so I am going to at least get to see the car in person. Such a great design - hope the car and Maserati does not disappoint
I usually do not comment on these things, but cannot help myself here... I just wasted 11 minutes of my life listening to this drivel.. I was not impressed at all.. The word count in those 11 minutes must be phenomenal, with in my opinion, a lot of contradiction. I think this guy is just trying to fanagle a test drive of one! I always wonder why many of these 'you tubers' think they are true automotive journalists. I wouldn't let this guy test drive my wife's Buick!!!! Mike
You might be right about his driving skilly etc. - but his comments about the not very good marketing strategy of Maserati are worth to listen..! Here he is right. When I drove the car in Varano in July 2021, not one person from Maserati showed up, asking something like "Did you like it?", "What did you not like?", "Could this be a car for you?", "Who is your dealer?", "Can we stay in contact with you and note your details?" - nothing. Nope! Njet! Non! Nein! Porsche is acting on that much more professionally!
I am also jumping on the train for the Spyder-version (launching is announced by Maserati in the 3rd quarter of this year. Well, I only believe it when I see it....!)
I would not call it a test - its more a driving impression. A real test is when driving a car on the edge and reports how it handles. Ok, probably not so important in the US but here in Germany its lap time on the old Nürburgring is a big pro or contra for such a car!
NO WALTER! Love your knowledge base and pedigree. But this current GT version of MC20 should NOT be judged on the old Nurburgring. EVER. Everything about her comfort, poise and feel would have to be compromised--- and force me to abandon my intention to park her next to my Bora!
Well, all sort of modern GT-cars are tested on the old Nürburgring! Again: it does not make any sense to compare the new MC20 with a Bora! The new car is completely different in poise and feel and was designed also as a base for a future race car with modified suspension, mapping and engine. The Bora was designed as a GT-car only and Maserati had no plans to go acing with it. Bora and MC20 are two different cup of coffee!
I’ll just chime in and say if I didn’t have an F8 spider on order I would definitely be in line for this. It’s stunningly beautiful exotic. Plenty of power and save a little money over the F. Would likely also take this over a 296. My wife is driving a 991.1 turbo S. I’ve been contemplating a new one for her but this at similar price point I think she would be all over the idea of of moving over to the Maser. After all her favorite car ever of mine was a Gran Turismo Sport that she misses. Agree with others about Shmee review. Basically a speed run and not proper test. Disagree totally about his electric comments. Have no idea what his point is even addressing that. The turbo six seems to be a very nice power plant and nice sounding as well. It's such a complementary piece that it sounds like it's been paid for. This is the review you want to send to people STILL waiting for an ordered car or trying to get in line for one.
I also placed my deposit the same day of launch. Having similar issues with communication. Only 40 made it to the port in USA on December 7th. The next round of deliveries have been shipped from Italy.
Thanks for that info! That’s the most definitive data I’ve heard yet! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will try and be more active on the forum with concrete data I find out. Dealers dont even have this info. Strange.
FYI Tavares delayed deliveries when he found out there were some issues that needed resolving. He said so in interviews: NO deliveries until cars are fully sorted. If cars are now reaching the US it means he accepted the correction program as having solved issues.
Ferrari of Scottsdale had one in their showroom marked “sold” it was in matte white which I’m not a fan of. looked great though. Not sure how big an add dealers are marking up… Robb
I finally got the car and today I drove 450 km with it and I am just in love !!! The vehicle grips the road amazingly, the vehicle is very fast, the sound of the turbo is addictive, and I think the vehicle is a combination of McLaren Porsche and Ferrari Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I've now seen/driven one in person. very impressed with it as an overall package. has a completely different vibe from ferrari
It's a completely different sound and very special. I really like the whistles of the turbo. You will see in the video the noise I transfer from first gear to second

As a journalist myself I have to point out that scanning a current article for public viewing is illegal and unethical. Scanning one from decades ago and posting it is a different matter. Secondly the way you posted it is not really readable.... Thirdly very good to hear/see that he wrote a positive review....oh and enjoy your MC20
